Wedding Day Makeup

When planning your wedding day most brides think about their wedding dress first, then maybe what accessories they will wear, and then what bridesmaid dresses their party will wear.  However during wedding planning it is also important to think about what you would like your wedding day makeup to look like!  Here are a few wedding makeup trends to help you draw inspiration from.

‘The Color Smoky Eye’

A smoky eye no longer means shades of grey, black with a silver highlight!

For a more modern look use shades of purple, green and blue to create a ‘bridal appropriate’ smoky eye. This is a more unconventional look that could be daring for a lot of brides but done in a subtle matter with the correct shades will make your eyes pop!

‘The Bold Lip’

Sometimes Women make the mistake of playing up more than one feature at a time. You do not want to look like you’ve decided to put on all the makeup you own at once! Chose you best feature that you want to accentuate and work on that.
A bold red or pink lip is a romantic choice that is a simple way of tying your look together if you don’t want to pile on the makeup.

‘The Golden Eye’

This is a new trend that has shown up on the 2013 Runway’s, a goddess golden eye! Sweep a shade of deep gold with a copper brown in the crease to highlight your eyes and achieve a sexy, dewy complexion. This is perfect for darker skin tones!

Airbrush Makeup!

To get your foundation to last all day consider using airbrush foundation! This gives a flawless finish that will cover all imperfections and discoloration. If you don’t feel the need to purchase your own airbrush foundation, go to your local makeup counter and get it professionally applied!

‘Its Like Rain, On Your Wedding Day’

Alanis Morisette said it best, having it rain on your wedding day can be ‘ironic’ but there are way to make your day just as beautiful and special. If the weather is saying rain there are a couple precautionary procedures you can do to make sure your ceremony and reception run smoothly and your wedding dress staying white.

1. Have a plan-B

This can go for all different aspects of your wedding. If any part of your wedding is even a little bit outdoors, and your expecting rain. Make sure you have the right materials such as a tent to create an overhang.

2. Choose the right hairstyle

Discuss with your stylist beforehand to see which options you have if your hair has extra frizz because of the high humidity. Also make sure to have extra hairspray and any hair tools on hand, especially if you have curls.

3.Protect your guests!

Have umbrellas for your guests to use if they need to go outside. To make this more creative, get them in your wedding colors or customized with your names & date printed across the top. Ponchos would also be a good idea if  if it is expected to be heavy rain. These will also act as cute party favor for your guests to take home at the end of the night.

4. Bring out the rain boots

Try not to put on your dress or your shoes until your inside for good. You don’t want any water marks or mud on the rim of your dress or your white shoes. Think about wearing rain boots until your inside in order to stay clean and dry!

Creative Tip: Save a few drops of rain to save in a bottle for a memorable piece!

Liz Fields is Getting Hitched: Part I

So, the secret is out….I am getting married!

In just about 2 weeks,  my fiance and I will be tying the knot during an intimate ceremony for our family and closest friends in Miami, Florida.  We opted for a small destination wedding and a big honeymoon…Bora Bora here we come!

The #1 question I have been getting is, “What does your wedding dress look like?” or the comedic,  ”Which bridal gown designer are you wearing?”  To set the record straight, YES, I am wearing a Liz Fields wedding dress and NO, I’m not telling you what it looks like! That would ruin the surprise, so you’ll just have to wait and see.  I can tell you, however, that I’m a simple gal and have a soft-spot for gorgeous lace.

This past weekend, my closest friend, Shana, organized a Bachelorette night of dinner & drinks at Sofrito NYC.  Here are a few photos from the evening.

A Wedding Dress That Will Flatter Your Body Shape!

When choosing a wedding dress you want to make sure it is the correct silhouette for your body shape that will look flattering in person and in pictures!

Pear Shaped:

Chose an A-Line wedding dress that gradually flares out from the waist downward to make your mid section appear narrow. You want to make the focus your upper half by wearing a one shoulder, strapless, v-neck or scoop neckline.

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #9233
This strapless ball gown style dress with a full skirt is the perfect dress to accentuate your tiny waist!  The  jewel encrusted waistband brings even more attention to your top half and minimizes your waist.

Busty:

Many women believe if you have a larger bust you are unable to wear any type of strapless style, this is untrue! It is all about choosing the right type of strapless neckline for your bust. Look for a style with a scoop neckline or just any type of slight dip along the neckline. This will still showcase your cleavage but in a classy, appropriate way. Avoid a straight across neckline or any type of fabric with a sheen to it such as organza or silk which will actually make your bust appear even larger.

We recommend:

This sweetheart neckline made out of crisp Taffeta is the perfect fabric and neckline that will flatter a larger bust.

Tall:

For taller women look for a simple silhouette that will emphasize your natural shape. A good way of doing this is having a lower waistline and a floor sweeping hem!

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #9229
This mermaid style wedding dress is great for taller women with long torso’s. The silhouette is still simple but the jewel embellishment adds a little interest to make the bride feel extra special.

Petite:

Smaller body frames want to look for a modified A-line wedding dress that lays above your natural waistline that will make you appear longer. There is no specific type of fabric to look for you can either chose a simple material or one with sheen however you want to keep the attention towards your top half. Avoid any big details such as an over-sized bow which will make you look disproportionate.

We recommend:

This empire waist gown with a silver embellished detail at the bust is the perfect waistline to make you appear long and lean! The chiffon cascade detail in the front is the right amount of detail to add height without being overwhelming.
