Throughout the years, it seems as though the grooms have not been as excited or involved in the wedding planning. It’s almost as if they ride in neutral until they have to walk down the aisle. There is almost no surprise anymore in terms of wedding planning, even from the engagement. Continue reading
In a more strange and hilarious turn of events, a couple video chatted their future selves at their wedding reception, mere hours after they said “I Do.” The newlyweds, Ben and Katie Nissen, filmed an interactive video short of themselves 50 years in the future, and it went way better than expected. In yet another inspiring bridal story, a young bridesmaid defied the odds of never walking again to make sure she was there for her big sister on her big day. One night while driving home, a deer jumped in front of 18 year old Mackenzie Gordon’s car – and as a result of avoiding the deer, she swerved, flipping her car into a ditch and breaking her neck.
Doctors told Mackenzie that she would never be able to stand on her own two feet again, let alone walk, but with her big sister’s wedding day on the horizon, she made it her personal goal to be able to walk down the aisle.
“I never accepted that I couldn’t walk again,” the captain of her cheerleading squad explained, “If I don’t want to be in the chair, I’ve got to do something myself to get out of it.”
It was when her new doctor at a new hospital was also paralyzed, and she realized that her dreams were not out of reach (especially since she had wanted to study to become a nurse) and she could still achieve them. By using a form of therapy called “locomotor therapy,” the motions of walking are recreated with force until the spinal cord essentially regains its memory.
So, it started with being able to stand just over 20 seconds, then after two months, those seconds turned into about five minutes – and soon enough, Mackenzie walked down the aisle in the same shoes as the other bridesmaids and stood beside her sister.
Way to go, Mackenzie!
As many may or may not know, the latest couple off the show The Bachelor will actually be making it down the aisle, as they have officially sent out their “Save The Date.” Now, this couple may have not been taken seriously as they met on a television show where about 15 percent of the couples actually work out, but their invitations kind of make us want to be invited to the wedding – I’ll even take one that says I’m not invited.
The Bachelor, Sean Lowe, proposed to Catherine Giudici earlier in the year after the shows 17th season. Lucky for us and for their guests, Giudici is a graphic designer who proved her skills after they sent out the cutest save the dates ever!
They will be walking down the aisle on January 26, 2014 and you can be sure to catch it on ABC when they air the full spectacle. Of course, Sean and Catherine may not have seemed like the perfect fit, but hopefully they will be able to prove everyone wrong once they say their “I do’s.”
Larissa and Ian met in 2005 when they were both still in college. After ten months of dating, and talks of marriage, Ian was in a devastating car accident that left him with a debilitating brain injury. After spending hours at the hospital, hoping that it wouldn’t be his brain, Larissa’s life stopped before her eyes.
So, why didn’t Larissa leave Ian? “I knew before Ian’s accident he was very serious about marriage and was ring shopping, so I knew where he was and that helped me so much after he couldn’t talk – I knew where he wanted the relationship to go,” Larissa explained in a video that explains how they came to the decision to continue on despite the odds.
She knew that if he could somewhat communicate with her, then their relationship could work – as long as he knew who she was and they could interact and communicate with each other. Larissa later explains in the video how God spared Ian’s life, “One night he was failing four to five activity tests and then the next morning he was doing well and his brain was starting to respond again.”
When Ian was recovering, his father was diagnosed with cancer, and with his condition worsening, Larissa knew how passionate he was about them tying the knot. To ensure that Ian was not marrying against his will, Larissa took him to a judge as his condition slightly improved – and when the judge ruled that he could make that decision, they married in 2012.
In a legitimate wedding ceremony, Ian and Larissa wed in a traditional wedding style. Larissa wore a beautiful cream colored gown and Ian even threw his fist up in the air with joy after they said their “I do’s.”

This couple set a whole new bar for those who really want to nail it with the best photos possible – check out the photos below for yourself…

Fall is easily the most perfect time of year. The weather is the perfect temperature, the scenery is beautiful, and the possibilities of a wedding theme are endless. The changing leaves, seasonal flowers, and rich colors make the theme possibilities endless. Another bonus? Fall weddings actually aren’t as popular as you would think which means even more options available for the bride! So, take some of these awesome tips into consideration if you’re leaning towards a fall wedding…
Summer is the most popular time of year to plan a wedding, which means that catering companies, bakeries, and venues might lower their prices during the fall in order to generate more profit. It’s always worth asking your chosen vendor if they are willing to give you a discount and just remember that the worst thing they can say is “no.”
Allow Guests To Prepare For The Weather
The fall is obviously the time where the climate is transforming from summer into winter, so it progressively gets cooler as the fall months pass by. If your venue is outside, then you want to warn them that it is outside so they can prepare accordingly. Also, make sure your wedding party is comfortable. Don’t make your bridesmaids wear dresses with a thin material because as the night goes on, it gets even cooler outside and being cold is just the worst.
Take Advantage Of The Season
It’s no secret that fall takes first place for the season with the best colors. The rich colors of the leaves make anyone feel warm and comfortable and that is something to take advantage of when choosing palates for bridesmaid’s dresses, tuxedos, and even your bouquet. It is also good to take in the elements of the fall season with twigs, leaves, apples, pumpkins etc, to add texture and color for practically no money at all.
So, with these tips being said, really consider planning a fall wedding because no season can beat it. The colors are too beautiful to ignore and the pictures will definitely be something worth putting on the mantle.
Now, with all the talk out there about potentially turning into a bridezilla, woman are freaking out and watching their attitudes more than they need to! The truth is, your bridesmaid’s can understand if you are acting a little crazy as the big day approaches, so what better way to help them survive your wrath than shower them with gifts and new opportunities.
There are five solid ways to impress your bridesmaid’s and help them understand the reign of terror that you have unleashed on everyone involved in the wedding, and here they are…
Switch It Up With Color Swatches
Before you go shopping for bridesmaid’s dresses, give them a color swatch that matches your wedding theme, that way they have a little leeway with picking. Plus, multi-colored dresses aren’t such a bad idea and they give your wedding party a little dimension. Now, I’m not saying you should let one pick green, the other hot pink, and another fire engine red, I’m talking more along the lines of different shades of blue, purple, green etc.
Take Care Of Their Feet
While it’s no surprise that your bridesmaid’s and you will be on your feet all night, make sure to pick out comfortable shoes for them to wear. Also, don’t make them go hiking through the wilderness (also known as grass) because the last thing you need to deal with is a broken ankle. So, keep the picture’s simple to pose in and maybe when the reception rolls around, invest in some cute flip flops to give the girls to take a little pressure off their heels.
Go On A Girls Day Out
Sometime’s bridal parties are a big mismatch of family member’s that have never met each other or never had the opportunity to grow closer. So, before the big day, plan some outings like lunch dates or even a girl’s night out. Plus, having all your bridesmaid’s getting along is basically a dream.
Warn Them Of Creepy Groomsmen
There is always that one weird cousin of the groom who is in your bridal party well, it is super important to warn your bridesmaid’s of that weird cousin and any other creepy groomsmen. However, if some of your bridesmaid’s are single, and there are some handsome bachelor’s standing by your future husband in nice tuxedos, help a girl out. You never know, maybe you’re a matchmaker and you’ll be watching her throw the bouquet next time!
The Bachelorette Party – Dun Dun Dun
Okay, now this is where a lot of fights tend to break out typically, over the bride being uncomfortable with the future festivities. So, if you think your bridesmaid’s are going to drag you to a strip club, then drop subtle hints on how that would make you uncomfortable – they’ll understand. Also, if you don’t want to seem like you’re complaining, then drop hints about what you might like to do before they start really getting into the party planning.
Now, those are some sure fire ways to make your bridesmaid’s happy leading up to and on your big day. Remember, this is a life celebration so, go and enjoy it – stress free!
Ellie Kemper took on the role of playing the quirky, Pixar-obsessed, obsessive compulsive, bridesmaid in the popular, box-office hit, Bridesmaids. However, the roles have turned and Kemper has officially tied the knot with former writer for Conan O’Brian, Michael Koman. The funny girl, actress has a star studded wedding with some comedic relief from Bridesmaids co-star, Kristen Wiig, and The Office co-star, Mindy Kaling.
After announcing her engagement in December, by no coincidence, on Conan, she has been doing several interviews on how she even surprised herself with being a bridezilla. Kemper explained, “I was always like, ‘I’m going to be the cool bride! I’m going to be laid back about everything!’ But it turns out I’m not.” The funny girl from The Office went onto explain that her fiance is getting the worst of the bridezilla lashing, “With Michael, my fiance, I’ve been like, ‘Why don’t you contribute?’ So, then he contributes an idea and I’m like, ‘That’s a terrible idea! Stop contributing!’”
Knowing the bride’s personality through interviews and even in her acting roles, this wedding must have really been a fun wedding to get the invite to. While Kemper’s acting career has driven her into the friend roles, her execution of the smaller parts is on point with the comedic relief.
It was in October of 2003 that Hawaiian native, Bethany Hamilton was attacked by a Tiger shark while surfing with her best friend Alana Blanchard and Blanchard’s father. The shark bit Hamilton’s arm off within a split second attack, and a massive hunt was initiated to find the shark that attacked the young girl (Hamilton was 13 years old at the time). Now, in 2013, Hamilton married Christian youth minister, Adam Dirks.
In 2011, the movie Soul Surfer was released based on Hamilton’s shark attack and her recovery and return to the competitive surfing world. Her struggles were unimaginable and she explained in an interview with InTouch magazine, “I always felt it would be hard to meet someone because I’m different. To say I was completely comfortable looking at myself in the mirror and seeing one arm would be a lie. I just had to trust in God and know that he had someone special for me.” Dirks and Hamilton met through mutual friends at their church and married on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii.
“I look forward to being the best wife that I can be for Adam and to starting our new adventure together,” Hamilton told People magazine. “I love surfing, but getting married doesn’t even compare, this was definitely the best night of my life.” The wedding party consisted for 13 bridesmaids and eight groomsmen who were all barefoot for the entire ceremony along with the bride and groom. Hamilton donned a traditional white gown that she posed in for InTouch magazine, but in due time, the bridesmaids dresses and groom apparel should start popping up on Hamilton’s Instagram.
