Surprise Wedding Toast Goes Viral

It was on June 29th that Jennifer Gabrielli’s older sister would wed her long time love, and it was also the day that she would give one of the most iconic bridesmaid’s toasts of all time. She announced it to the guests that her speech included a “musical snack,” which immediately had her older sister, the bride, curious to see what she whipped up. As the beat kicks in, one of the groomsmen pulls out a black, Victoria’s Secret “Love Pink,” hooded zip up to help put on Gabrielli. Low and behold… she had successfully taken Eminem’s hit single, Without Me, and created a personal wedding toast for her big sis. The video went viral within days.

Gabrielli told ABC News that she “didn’t want to get up there and get nervous, and forget everything, and start to cry.” However, when she stood in front of the 200 guests, she had no reservations, and just went for it. The 24 year old bridesmaid was given credit where credit was due with her mock chorus “Now this looks like it’s meant to be, so everybody just toast with me. Raise your glasses if you’re thirsty, ’cause tonight we’re here to P-PAR-TEE.” While the crowd seemed shocked at first, it did not take long before everyone was clapping with the beat and laughing along with the bridal party.

While her mother helped her practice on their way down to the La Costa Resort in California, Gabrielli wanted to still make the light hearted speech more personal. At the end of her viral rap video, she says “I love you bigger than the sky,” and she explained to ABC that was something her family had always said to each other. When her moment was over, her mother rushed to the stage to give her a kiss, and the 200 wedding guests gave her a standing ovation.

She also did not stray away from giving her new brother-in-law a few digs, “Through thin and thick they ain’t gonna quit, everybody’s talking about this great fit. Blake, he don’t wanna get his butt kicked, toilet seats down and he does the dish-es.”

Gabrielli has been writing songs since she was a little girl, but it always proved to be more of a hobby for the administrative assistant at California University.

It’s a Party Dress, Not a Uniform- Why it’s Important For Bridesmaids to Be Comfortable

As every little girl grows up, they ultimately envision their perfect wedding at one point in their life or another. They have the perfect dress, the perfect husband, but then something they do not look into until they’re older; bridesmaid’s dresses.

Bridesmaid’s dresses have plagued women for years and become the ritual that could formally be titled “How Bad Do I Look in This?” Where does the history of bridesmaids dresses turn sour? It could be the invention of taffeta, or the invention of any fabric that makes a noise as your walk. However, as the decades of weddings go by, it is always the bride that makes the final decision on what you’ll be wearing in the photos she’ll carry around for a lifetime, but why have these dresses allowed fashion to take an 80’s step back? Because it’s the bride’s wedding, not yours.

However, there has been a shift in the atmosphere, and brides are beginning to show a little more sympathy for their bridal party. As many women know, bridesmaid’s dresses are one of the key staples in the wedding process. As many colors and cuts have been generically used, and the population of taffeta declining; designers are beginning to show trendier looks. These new looks are displaying more flexible cuts, new color combinations, and they are carrying some amazing designer labels on the neck.

This poses the next problem, the price of bridesmaid’s dresses. If one has ever seen bridesmaids, in the pivotal food poisoning scene at the bridal store that had many rolling on the floor laughing, there is more to it than just horrible food from a back alley Mexican restaurant. It was about the fact that these women could not agree on the cost of a dress! For the brides reading this; let your designated handlers (i.e. bridesmaids) have about 55% of the decision in what they will be wearing for close to 24 hours. These dresses, according to fact, need to get your bridesmaids through chasing after what you cannot find (cell phone, ring, champagne glass), thousands of photos, and dancing all night long at the reception. So, please, for all the brides out there, think about your bridesmaids because in the end, these dresses are not meant for any other event besides that full day. Let the gals have a little leeway in their dresses. Of course, you still determine the color, and you cannot have them upstage you, but find the happy medium, because no one needs the extra stress of an unhappy bridesmaid. So, take a moment and put on the bridesmaids shoes, even though the whole point was that you did not have to, and try to understand that they want their custom bridesmaid dress to be a party dress just like yours. They don’t want to be wearing a uniform.

Bad Dress Etiquette: Are You A Good Bridesmaid?

So your best girlfriend since Kindergarten is getting married. If you haven’t been included in the selection process, you’re likely being emailed a link to the terrible bridesmaid dress she’s requesting you wear to the festivities.
Is there any way to get around wearing that awful thing or do you suck it up and swallow your pride? After all, you’ll only have to wear that dress once.

                                                                              Bridesmaid Dresses Wrong

There are some instances where it’s okay to speak up about your dress. The bride should take into account that unless all of her friends are Stepford Wives, no two women are going to look exactly the same. The style of dress chosen for the bridesmaids should be equally flattering on all shapes. That being said, if your dress doesn’t flatter your figure, it’s perfectly fine to speak up. I mean, there are

Another reason to speak up is cost. It can be downright expensive being a bridesmaid. It can cost up to $1,000.00 for a bridesmaid to attend the wedding. If the dress the bride selected is a little above your price range, it’s perfectly acceptable to inquire about a less expensive, but equally tasteful option.
You’ll want to remember that when addressing any issues with the bride, that you don’t want to be confrontational. Keeping a calm head is more likely to yield results after all!

In situations when your grievance is not about function or finance, it may not be appropriate to complain about your dress to the bride. If you’re just not digging the color of the dress or the ruffles on the bust, then you may be out of luck. When dealing with your friends, sometimes you need to bite the bullet and take one for the team. Your dear friend will (hopefully) only be marrying once, so this is the last time you’ll have to look at that dress.

Bacon Themed Wedding Wins Newlyweds a Honeymoon

custom bridesmaid dresses
A recent pork lovers contest found a newlywed couple having a bacon themed wedding that won them a honeymoon to the pork capital of the world: Baltimore, MD. The couple had everything from bacon wrapped bouquets to throwing bacon bits at the end of the ceremony instead of rice. Not all newlyweds envision their dream wedding to be covered in bacon, and if you’re stressed out about wedding planning there are a number of things that you can do to ensure that your big day goes as smoothly as possible.

Your wedding can be one of the most hectic moments that you and your partner will experience together. In many cases the bride gets so caught up in making sure that the wedding is picture perfect that they begin to lose the value of why they’re planning a wedding in the first place. There are a lot of decisions that the groom takes no part in, depending on the type of relationship you have. Trying to plan a wedding that is for the both of you will help eliminate much of the stress that wedding planning can bring into a relationship. You must remember every day to value your partner, and not to get lost in your wedding plans. A wedding is just for the day, a marriage is for a lifetime. Ensuring that you continue to do the things you did before the wedding plans as a couple will help keep you both happy.

Ask for help, weddings can be fun to plan if you allow for others to help you when you need it. There will be times that decisions will be made without both the bride and groom, and these are the moments where you can call your friends and family and have fun with your decision making. While allowing others to partake in your wedding, usually the bridal party and in laws, it will give your wedding day more value to those who aren’t getting married that day. This will also alleviate some of the stress and feelings of being overwhelmed. In addition, having help gives you the security that you aren’t handling everything on your own when your partner is unavailable.

A major thing to always remember when planning your wedding is to keep an open mind and open heart. There will be times where the idea you’ve had in your mind just won’t work out the way you want it to, and by remaining open-minded you will automatically reduce the stress of having everything done a certain way. It’s great to have a specific idea of how you want your wedding to look like and your wedding day to go, however life is unexpected and it would be silly to put all your coins in one bag. Always have a plan B, this way if something does happen you’re already prepared for it. Being nervous and stressed out is normal, but having your heart and mind set on one thing that may or may not work can lead to disaster. For instance, are you planning an outdoor wedding? You should definitely have a plan B in case the weather doesn’t turn out the way you had hoped.

Always remember that this wedding is to celebrate the love between you and your future lifelong partner, try not to turn against each other while planning this big day. Continue to show each other love and appreciation. A happy marriage starts with a happy and healthy relationship. This can and will get crazy during the time that your wedding is being planned, particularly when it comes to picking out custom bridesmaid dresses, so just make sure to not get crazy on each other, unless it’s in a good way. The smoothest and best part of a wedding will ultimately be with the bride and groom’s happiness.

Wedding Videographer Scammed 150 Newlywed Couples

custom bridesmaid dresses
Jesse Clark, owner of SureShot Portraits LLC was taken to court this week when Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley filed a civil lawsuit stating that he had taken money from over 150 newlywed couples and never provided them with video footage of their wedding. He has been ordered to pay $500,000 in damages. Supposedly, Clark would take the money from the couple and then hold the footage hostage if they didn’t remove internet complaints, and would often never deliver anything and never give a refund. It’s important that as a couple, you avoid these types of business owners if you can help it, which in most cases you can. SureShot Portraits has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau and by doing a little online research you can easily tell that they are a vendor you’d want to avoid hiring. Make sure that before you hire any vendors for you wedding, unless you know them personally or have had a friend or family member recommend them that you take the time to do a little research before you trust them to render any services pertaining to your wedding.

There are a lot of people who try to capitalize on the wedding industry who aren’t professional and have little to no wedding experience. The stress of planning a wedding can often cause people to hire vendors on a whim without conducting thorough research. That being said, it’s imperative that when you begin to plan your wedding you get recommendations from your friends and family first when it comes to the videographer, photographer, caterer, custom wedding dress designer, and more. If your friends and family have no sound recommendations then it’s time to start using the internet as a resource. Make sure that every vendor you consider hiring has a good online reputation and doesn’t have any negative reviews online. Additionally, don’t be afraid to get quotes from multiple vendors and compare prices in order to decrease the amount of money that you spend. A lot of people tend to have the misconception that the most expensive vendors are the best vendors and this simply isn’t the case. In order to pick the best vendor, it’s important to get the word of mouth recommendations of your friends and family first, and then take to the internet if you need to do so.

Sean Parker Pays 2.5 Million to Wed in an Environmentally Sensitive Location

custom bridesmaid dresses
Big Sur is located on the central coast of California, and refers to the area where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise out of the Pacific Ocean. This beautiful location is not an ideal spot for having a wedding, as the terrain is rough and there are many endangered plants and animals that could be sensitive to the presence of a large group of people. For Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster and former Facebook president, none of this seemed to matter. Parker has just paid 2.5 million dollars to appease the California Coastal Commission in exchange for being able to follow through with his wedding plans.

Parker commissioned and went through with major construction plans in the area before the Commission caught wind of what was going on. Once the plans were already in motion, the Commission couldn’t stop the construction. Parker has already built a small village in the beautiful coastal region. Rather than demand that he tear down the structure, they settled with Parker who was said to have been very cooperative and kind. Parker has also agreed to develop a mobile app that brings awareness to the environmental issues that the region faces. The dismantling of the construction will be overseen by environmental professionals in order to ensure that the local community and the region are not disturbed. The wedding took place last weekend and was said to have cost nearly 15 million dollars.

This type of wedding budget is obviously not typical, and if you are looking to have a beautiful wedding in a lush location, you can do so without being a billionaire. The fact that Parker chose such a sensitive location and had to build his own village in order to sustain the people who were in attendance speaks volumes to the convenience of the location. It’s important that when you are choosing a wedding destination, you are practical about the money that you’ll need to spend in order to accommodate your wedding party. Destination weddings can be tricky and many people find that some of their closest friends and family are not able to attend the event due to the inconvenience of travel and/or being able to afford accommodations. Always keep in mind other peoples budgets, especially when it comes to planning a destination wedding. Your wedding day is something that you’ll remember for the rest of your life and therefore you want to take every measure possible in order to ensure that your closest loved ones are in attendance, even if that means cutting back on the money that they will have to spend in order to be in attendance on your big day.

Man Proposed to Girlfriend on Vine, Girlfriend Responds on Twitter

childhood trauma
In the latest social media wedding proposal, Los Angeles business consultant Curt Buthman proposed to his girlfriend by posting a video of himself popping the big question on Vine. Vine is one of the newer social media platforms that enables you to take short videos of things and post them onto the outlet to share with your friends, family and co-workers. As if this type of wedding proposal weren’t impersonal enough, Buthman’s girlfriend responded “Yes!” to the proposal on Twitter! You’d think this was all one giant hoax, and that the couple must have had a “real” or more intimate proposal beforehand, but alas it was all done through social media. The proposal and response alone prove that this couple is meant to be together.

Despite the impersonal nature of using social media to propose to your loved one, the gesture is also loaded with the subcontext of needing attention and wanting to get married for the wrong reasons. You can only hope that if someone proposes on social media that their intentions are pure and that they are marrying you for the right reasons. A lot of proposals go south even when they aren’t mal-intended, so when it comes to proposing to your loved one try, at all costs, to avoid doing so over a social media outlet. The primary purpose of social media is to connect to a larger audience. A wedding proposal is an intimate and personal gesture that is symbolic of how you will spend the rest of your life. That being said, it’s very important to carefully examine the way in which you are planning to propose and perhaps keep social media as a non-option from the very beginning.

If you are unsure about how to propose to your loved one, don’t be afraid to use the internet for inspiration. That isn’t to say that you should use the internet as a means to actually propose. Be careful about the way in which you chose to propose and try to make it as intimate and personal as possible. The only thing worse than a bad proposal is the love of your life rejecting a future with you because of it. It’s well worth the extra effort to go above and beyond when it comes to planning a proposal that your loved one has always dreamed of. In the long run the one thing that is certain is that when it comes to proposing to your loved one you need to put down the app, social media outlet, iPhone, laptop etc. and make it an experience that isn’t reduced to a technological gesture. By doing so, you will ensure a future with the person that you love and end up living a beautiful, happy and healthy life.

Elizabeth Taylor’s First Wedding Dress to be Sold at Major Auction

custom bridesmaid dress

When Elizabeth Taylor was 18 years old she wed Conrad Hilton Jr. in 1950 and the dress she wore is going up for auction at Christies in London on June 26. The gown was designed by MGM by designer Helen Rose and is made of 25 yards of satin with a 15 foot train. The dress is expected to go for roughly $75,000 and will draw an international crowd of bidders.

Dresses that were made in the 1950’s have a nostalgic, vintage feel that many skilled designers are able to replicate if you don’t have 75k laying around to purchase Elizabeth Taylor’s first wedding dress. Vintage dresses are great for brides who are having a vintage inspired wedding or for brides who want to have a more conservative look. Dresses that were made in the 50’s are known for being very modest and conservative and this can bring an element of style to many traditional types of weddings or conservative ceremonies.

If you are trying to decide which type of wedding dress is best for your big day, start by using the Internet for inspiration. Browse through different eras of wedding dresses and pick a time period that you feel moved by and go from there. Each era had a different style, cut and overall look and you can even get creative and pull different components from each era that you like the most. Finding inspiration from different eras is a great way to start your wedding dress search if you are at a loss as far as where to start when deciding on a wedding dress.

Finding the perfect custom wedding dress is a wonderful experience that you can enlist your friends to help you with. That being said, find inspiration from your friends who were already married. Ask to look at their wedding dresses and even ask them what their favorite and least favorite aspects of the design and overall fit were. Learning from your friends experiences is a great way to ensure that you make the best decisions when it comes to picking out your own wedding dress.

If you are still unsure about where to start or if you are truly having trouble finding a wedding dress style that you fall in love with, you may want to enlist a custom wedding dress designer who can consult with you to help you find the perfect dress. Once you’ve decided on a wedding dress, you will be able to build the entire theme and motif of the wedding-from the invitations to the bridesmaid dresses-around the style of your dress. Finding a wedding dress is a great way to take advantage of your close friendships and is an opportunity to create long lasting memories that you’ll have for the rest of your life.
