How To Accommodate The Bridesmaids

Recently, Marie Claire put out an article giving helpful advice revealing some easy tips to finding the perfect and affordable bridesmaid dress.  It can seem like a daunting task, especially with all the different cuts and colors of dresses, but there are some top tips known by many brides and bridesmaids, alike. The most important thing for a bride to remember is that although it is her big day, the bridesmaid’s play an integral part within the process.

Don’t Take Care Of Them Last Minute

Bridesmaids

Believe it or not, picking out your bridesmaid dresses before planning the overall color theme of the wedding can actually make the planning process easier. The bridesmaid dresses can also represent the theme of the wedding, and if you are stuck with finding the theme, look at some dresses and it might just come to you. Also, do not be stubborn when it comes to the color of their dresses. Take their skin tone into consideration, and if you chose them as your bridesmaids, then you should have already thought about finding dresses that flatter them.

Keep Them Warm

Winter Wedding Dresses

While you may be having a hot flash from being nervous, your bridesmaids might feel the actual temperature of the venue, and they could be approaching the early stages of hypothermia. With that point aside, goose bumps are not the most attractive look, so make sure they have scarves or shrugs to keep them warm in the event that the venue is a little chilly.

Be Prepared For Alterations

If you are having custom bridesmaid dresses made, make sure to already plan out appointments for alterations because your bridesmaid’s can lose weight, gain weight, or maybe they are in the process of starting their own family and a pregnant belly needs to fit comfortably. There are many dresses that have empire waists and they fit in a very flattering way on many different body types.

Have Fun!

By all means, do not forget that this is the bride’s big day! It is the beginning of a new life and the day they get to profess their love to all the people around them. While the whole wedding process is known to be stressful due to the celebration, all of it will be well worth it by the time of the reception when everyone pops open a bottle of champagne and dances the night away.

While many may assume these tips are common wedding knowledge, or they are easier said than done, they are still just helpful little reminders to keep your cool on the big day. There are both obligations of the bride and bridesmaid’s, but with all the stress, sometimes it is easy to forget that the big day can be a little anxiety crazed for everyone.

Bride Publicly Shames Cake Maker

Wedding DisasterDon’t ever mess with a bride, whether it be her dress, reception, groom, bridesmaids, or any part of the entire wedding, just do not mess with it. The baker’s at an undisclosed bakery in the U.K. probably should have listened to that advice before they sold a woman the lopsided gray blob that was supposedly her wedding cake. The bride, Celia, provided the bakery with a photo of the design she had wanted, however, when she picked up her three-tier, black tire cake, she immediately took revenge. Now, what better way to take revenge than selling the cake on eBay?

Wedding Planning

According to one of the comments placed on the item, they described it as a “cake-shaming,” and on the description of the listing, Celia noted the cake was “used” and continued with “A few defects due to maker being unskilled. Uncut, along with large amount of awful cupcakes for free. No topper or decoration. Unusual design. Very Heavy.” This dear bride ended by letting the bidder know that there were no returns on the item. Talk about a serious wedding dilemma solved with bridal wrath.

There were actually 11 bids on the cake that began at $1.54. However, Celia removed the sale after an experienced cake maker commented on the item saying, “Sorry, but as an experienced cake maker, I just thought I would contact you. I don’t think you will be able to/really should sell this cake on eBay, not least of which for health and safety reasons. If someone actually ate it (God Forbid!!) – I would worry it might come back on you rather than the original cake maker.”

Coming from the perspective of the bride, this cake “baker” should have felt her wrath, because what this cake looked like would send anyone off their rocker. Celia later explained that she did not intend to actually sell the cake to anyone, but to prevent this shop from ever producing or selling another disaster such as her cake.

Woman Marries With 80 Bridesmaids By Her Side

Bridesmaids DressesIt took 76 students, three sisters in-law, one niece, one cousin, and a best friend to make up dance teacher, Katie Dalby’s unimaginably large bridal party. Her bridesmaids dawned identical pink dresses with a sheer navy tie around the waist. It came down to the fact that Dalby could not break the hearts of her students and friends who had been so excited for her wedding so, she simply chose them all to somehow make it easier.

”The children were all very excited when I told them I was getting married, some of them had been asking me for more than a year,” Dalby explained. She felt as though it would not be fair to all the girls who had been helping her plan her wedding to firemen, Norman Gooch, if she had only chosen two or three of them. While many of Dalby’s students are young kids, their parents were so happy and thankful to her for allowing their children to be included on her big day.

Before the procession, the roads needed to be closed for the size of the bridal party. A majority of the students were between ages two to 17 and members of the bride’s Essex based dance academy. According to the reverend who had married the happy couple, “There were a very large number of bridesmaids, but there was room for them in the pews nearest to the aisle and they formed a guard of honor as the bride and groom left the church.”

Governor’s Daughter Returns $15K Wedding Gift

Merlin_18012851_image_982wGovernor Robert McDonnell of Virginia has been under some serious investigation in recent months from his family being offered so many expensive and free gifts from those who have endorsed his campaign. In the state of Virginia, it is required that any gift given to the state’s first family worth over $50 must be made aware to Federal Officials. While his wife has accepted countless gifts to improve her public appearance, new reports are claiming his daughter returned a check for $15,000 given to her as a wedding gift.

The check came from one of Governor McDonnell’s biggest endorsers, Jonnie Williams, who has given the family thousands of dollars in gifts already. Upon the federal investigation, McDonnell has hired a private legal team to return all the funds back to Williams. However, Attorney General, Ken Cuccinelli stated otherwise saying that the governor will not be reimbursing Williams as the $18,000 in gifts has included already used vacations, dinners, and private jet travel, all of which are things that cannot be given back.

Upon word that both of the Governor’s daughter’s were engaged, rumors began swirling that a majority of the wedding festivities would be funded by Williams’ company which manufactures nutritional supplements. Cuccinelli gained word that both the Governor’s daughters returned their wedding checks, both for $15,000 and he stated that he was pleased the Governor finally took some initiative.

Bridesmaid’s Can Wear White Too!

white bridesmaid dresses aAs the times change, many will only hear traditionalists say that only the bride can wear white. However, many brides are beginning to see the fashion benefits and change their state of mind as to what color their bridesmaid’s dresses can be. In recent trends, white and ivory bridesmaid dresses have been popping up on designer sites and Facebook’s everywhere.

The choice between the two similar colors all depends on what color the bride’s gown will be. If the bride chooses an ivory based dress, then to put a slim difference between her and her maids, it would be smart to put them in a more pure white. If the bride chooses an elegant and traditional white gown, then their bridesmaid’s would choose ivory dresses. While people may be concerned with the fact that is it not only the bride wearing white, there should not be much of a concern, because everyone attending should know whose wedding it is.

By allowing the color scheme to stay within the basic white’s allows for the photos of the entire bridal party to tie together as well. Plus, if the wedding is seasonal, the white and ivory can stand out among the fall or summer colors. Honestly, with whatever traditions may change within the life celebration of a wedding, they always seem to work out and catch on in one way or another.

Daughter Films Faux Wedding Dance With Dying Father

One of the most important moments in any girls life, is on her wedding day when she gets to have her dance with her dad. There is something about that moment that will forever bring tears to on-looking eyes, and especially in the moment that went viral between Rachel Wolf and her father. In September of 2011, Rachel’s father, Dr. James Wolf, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. For the past two years he has undergone extensive treatment, and is coming up on the end of his battle.

Although Rachel is not even engaged, she knows that when that day comes, she would forever regret not having that special moment with her dad. So, she decided to surprise him with a faux wedding so they could have their last dance and when the day comes, she can play that video. “It meant more to him than I ever thought it would,” Rachel explained to ABC News. “The joy that I saw in his face when he saw me was amazing.”

While the video has gone viral, Rachel has explained that she does not want to watch it until her actual wedding day. In the event that her father would not physically make it to one of the biggest moments in her life, for her, now he still can be. “I was completely taken aback,” Dr. Wolf explained. “It was a special idea to remember her father at her wedding day.” Although his interview was brief, a lot of his energy was drained from the dance, but it can be seen on his face in the video that he has never seen his daughter look so beautiful.

75 Gowns Collected For Military Charity

military_wedding_imageThe custom, formal bride boutique, Bella Bridesmaid, recently hosted a fundraiser for Charity Dress Collection which is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free gowns to those who serve in the military. The event collected 75 used gowns for mother of the bride and bridesmaids, all of which were donated by generous Hartford, Connecticut residents.

This collection of donations was part of Bella Bridesmaid’s large and generous relationship with the non-profit organization, which also includes seasonal donations of bridesmaid’s gowns to keep them feeling newer and appealing. “We launched this timely program over the Independence Day holiday to honor the service men and women who protect and defend our countries freedom,” explained Madison Ross, co-owner of Bella Bridesmaid Boutique. “We are grateful to the swelling of support from local women who cleaned out their closets and stopped by our store to donate an unwanted gown to an appreciative military family.”

It is no secret that although weddings are a big life celebration, they are still very expensive, and the dresses can be one of the most difficult things to find in an affordable price range. However, with charities such as Charity Dress Collection, many brides will still be able to have the wedding they have always dreamed of with the perfect dresses. The benefit for those who are in need of bridesmaids dresses is that no dress is accepted if it does not fit company standards. Bridesmaid’s dresses can be beautiful and timeless, regardless if they are used or donated.

Financial Obligation Of Being A Bridesmaid

Pink-Bridesmaids-Dresses-500x333Regardless whether it is their second, third, or first, weddings reign supreme in the biggest life celebrations. As soon as the future groom pops the question, it is then the future bride’s duty to propose to her best friends on whether or not they will be her bridesmaid. However, in some instances, bridesmaids end up turning down the offer due to the overall cost which includes accessories, the dress, gifts, and travel. For some serial bridesmaids, they can collect “bridesmaid debt,” due to the overall estimation for a standard bridesmaid being $1,695.

The standard receipt for a bridesmaid according to www.Mint.com:

Dress – $150

Travel [wedding, shower, bachelorette party] - $300 each

Gifts – $200

Soraya Jollon, a New York based wedding planner, explains, “The majority of bridesmaids are happy to buy a dress. If a bride has historically been the type to figure out exactly what each person owes when the bill arrives at a group dinner, she may ruffle some feathers if she insists that her friends buy a $500 dress and matching shoes.” However, a bridesmaid will typically put up with the bride because every wedding is usually stereotypical, and nothing that happens is something you have not heard of before.

The culture of a wedding is to be expensive, and the hardest thing for a bridesmaid is making sure your bride will understand if some things are a little too pricey. As a bridesmaid, it is important to voice anything financial so you do not end up screwing yourself over in the end with debt or cause drama between the bridal party.

‘Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids’ Begins Filming New Season

51oIdzgbtaL._SX500_Small towns all over the nation have been going crazy over filming for TLC’s original show, Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids. The show was a spinoff of TLC’s other original program, Say Yes To The Dress for the brides. The concept revolves around a bridal shop where bridal parties visit the store searching for the perfect bridesmaid’s dresses. It always proves to be very dramatic and emotional because someone always ends up breaking down into a crying mess in either joy or frustration.

The next season has filmed episodes for bridal parties in Cincinnati, Nashville, and a few military families scattered all over the nation. While the show gets its ratings for the drama, the show still provides good entertainment when some trips to the bridal shops run smoothly. It also helps future brides see what they could possibly be in for, so there are even some life lessons to be learned.

Say Yes To The Dress: Bridesmaids has proven that picking your bridesmaids is not a process to just skip over and look at all your potential picks. It is amazing what some of these sisters and friends can act like when they are put in a dress that was not their first pick. Regardless, it is kind of inevitable that there will be some form of drama regardless if you are watching it on television or actually bridesmaid dress shopping. The show airs on TLC almost every day and usually in marathon form and it fluctuates between the original show with wedding dress shopping to the bridesmaids episodes.
