Olivia Wilde Spoils Her Bridesmaids – Find Out Why They’re So Lucky!

ClipboardAs actress Olivia Wilde plans her wedding to Saturday Night Live funnyman, Jason Sudeikis, her bridesmaids could not be happier for the bride or another amazing reason, their bridesmaid’s dresses! According to an interview with InStyle Magazine, Wilde has designed custom dresses for each of her bridesmaid’s to stray away from the taffeta tradition.

“I’ll skip the tortured tradition of forcing them [bridesmaids] to wear a ridiculous dress that they’ll never wear again,” Wilde explained to InStyle. “They can dye it black or purple and wear it forever.” Needless to say, her loyal maids are breathing a sigh of relief.

Many brides have been getting creative with their bridesmaids dresses the past few years, and although it does not mirror the tradition, it adds a little more excitement to the wedding. Anticipation always builds for the wedding guests to try guessing what the color scheme and bridesmaid’s dresses will look like, and if they will actually compliment the bride.

Custom bridesmaid’s dresses are becoming more popular and either it is because all horrible dresses have gone extinct, or it is a lot easier on the bride to not have to listen to her bridesmaids complain. However, whatever the case may be, as the wedding process evolves, bridesmaids are getting luckier with what they will be wearing down the aisle.

Wilde gushed about her future husband and his career saying, “I know there will be times when Jason is working more than I am, but I’m actually excited by that. I’m excited by what he will become, what depth he has.”

Jennifer Aniston To Live Happily Ever After – Finally

Our favorite Friend, the girl who inspired about 70% of the hairstyles from the 90′s, is one step closer to walking down the aisle. After her very nasty divorce from Brad Pitt, people just wanted to see Jennifer Aniston happy. The public watched as rumors of an affair between Pitt and Angelina Jolie began to spread and Aniston’s heart slowly began to break. However, just a few years later, Aniston will marry the very handsome and talent, Justin Theroux.

Ever since they appeared on the red carpet together for the first time, people wanted Justin and Jen, not Brad and Jen. Ever since the proposal, every television appearance has circulated around details of their wedding. Aniston has always been very good at protecting her love life and she did not go public with Theroux until about a year after dating. However, after such an embarrassing and public divorce, can you blame her?

Theroux proposed to Aniston on the East coast, where a majority of his family and friends live. If there are any doubts about his love for her, there shouldn’t be. According to a source, the couple has officially decided they will wed in California even though Theroux wanted to get married on the opposite coast. Even though he has a New York state of mind, looks like he’ll be flying his family out to California. Now, for the more important wedding details, what will the infamous Rachel Greene’s wedding dress look like? And will her old roommate, Courtney Cox be donning a bridesmaids dress at the nuptials?

It’s Not Just A Bridesmaid’s Dress – The Secret Use

Candid Prom

One of the most stressful moments in high school is finding that perfect dress for prom. Of course, you will always see dresses that you like, but there is always the chance that another girl might be wearing the same one. As horrible as that sounds, it is part of the risk when shopping for prom dresses in prom sections of commercial stores. However, there is a trick of the trade and if your parents are flexible, I can tell you how to find the perfect prom dress that no one else will have.

The trick to finding the perfect prom dress is shopping for it at a bridal store. Take into consideration how many weddings there are each year, now I’m not the best at math, but that’s a lot of different designs for these designers to put out seasonally. However, just going to the Nordstrom’s bridal section will not do the trick if you are worried about having the same look as another girl. You need to go to a bridal store.

There are always affordable bridesmaid’s dresses, but historically, a prom dress can cost just as much as a bridesmaids dress. The best part about shopping for a prom dress in a bridal store is that you can have a little fun with the experience and pretend you’re actually going to be in a wedding. The sales women don’t know your life, and for all they know, you are shopping for your invisible sister’s wedding and you need a light gown which you’d like to be within the purple family.

If you have anxiety about shopping in a bridal store there are other stores that have specific policies where they do not sell multiple dresses to girls going to the same prom. However, when your prom rolls around, take a look into doing something more authentic, and even better, you’ll feel like a princess.

Always A Bridesmaid – Never A Sequel

The infamous cast of Bridesmaids

The infamous cast of Bridesmaids

For the past two years, rumors have been swirling around the comedic wedding pool determining if there will be another box office smash for the Bridesmaids franchise. The movie that was essentially The Hangover for women has officially been declared one-and-done, but that does not mean it was not a success.

Bridesmaids broke box office records upon its 2011 release with an Academy Award nominated cast. So, why turn down a project that could crush the box office yet again, just from the anticipation? The star, Kristen Wiig, mentioned to Harper’s Bazaar, that her career is not money motivated. “We would have made a lot of money if there was a second one, but that’s not my goal in my creative life,” Wiig explained “We knew during the first one, this was it.”

The poster became an iconic staple in wedding photos for the bride and her bridesmaids, in which the bride and her maids stand lackluster for the camera in the gown and dresses rather than the standard smile from ear to ear. While fans would love another movie, there is no point in destroying something we already love. Even though Wiig turned down the Bridesmaids 2 idea without batting an eye, she is still looking forward to all her upcoming projects coming out within the next year.

In-Game Wedding Allows Dedicated Gamers to Marry Their Avatars

custom bridesmaid dressesMuch like many other online role playing games, the popular World Of Warcraft franchise also allows players to marry their avatars for a nominal fee. The ceremonies are performed by an in-game priest and a script is emailed to participating parties the day before the event. Since the ceremony isn’t free of charge, you will also be receiving an invoice which includes the ceremony itself and two photos which will be mailed to the address linked to the paypal account provided. Dedicated players should also know that only a small number of servers will allow these unions to take place.

Marital Status

Despite the time and money that goes into these virtual weddings, the truth still holds that they don’t affect your marital status outside of the game. How can you have a unique and unconventional ceremony if you’re dead-set on marriage in real life. You may not be able to have your wedding on location at Stormwind Gazebo, but you can still have a unique and memorable wedding.

One thing you can do to make your wedding more unique is to defy conventional thinking by having your closest friends and family marry you as opposed to a minister. Getting everyone involved in the process allows the rest of the wedding party to show their commitment to the bride and groom.

Unique Wedding Perks

Another unique touch you can add to your ceremony is to genderbend members of the wedding party. For instance, instead of a best man, the groom can appoint a best girl. The bride can even appoint her best guy friend or brother as a man of honor. The bride and groom may even opt to go without an official bridal party altogether. Instead, just tell everyone invited that they are the bridal party. Add a special touch to your ceremony by implementing unique seating arrangements. Instead of traditional chairs, you can opt for items like hay bales or beanbag chairs (or something more specific if you’ve chosen a theme) for your guests to sit on.

You don’t always having to spend a fortune on a pricey banquet hall; Holding your ceremony in a place that’s significant to both you and your fiance will also make the wedding day a lot more special. If the bride and groom are gamers, for example and you met in an arcade, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to get married in that same arcade. If you’re aiming to get a little closer to traditional, you might consider holding your ceremony in a restaurant of your choosing or a relative’s back yard.

Custom Touch

One of the best ways to add a custom touch to your wedding is to write your own vows. What better way is there to show just how excited you are to be with the person you’re marrying than to write them a beautiful set of wedding vows.

Lastly, Don’t be afraid to get creative with your wedding. Since it’s your wedding, and up to this point no other part of it has been traditional, don’t go for a “traditional” set-up in order to appease one or more of your guests. If you’ve opted for a theme wedding, make the dresses and decorations match that theme.

Overall, you want your wedding to be as memorable and personal as possible. It’s perfectly okay to defy tradition when it comes to your wedding. Don’t be afraid to add special touches to make your wedding more unique, or to turn down the pricey banquet hall in lieu of a location that may be more meaningful to you and your fiance.

Avril’s Recent Wedding Defies Conventional Ideals

Singer Avril Lavigne

When we were planning our dream weddings as little girls, most of us aimed for a more traditional approach: the white beaded dress with the long train and simple, dewy  makeup. Singer Avril Lavigne threw all of that out the window for her recent wedding to fellow musician Chad Kroeger. Her wedding, which took place in a castle in France was anything but traditional. Lavigne and her groom walked down the aisle in all black, Lavigne’s eyes lined with thick, black liner.

Celebrities are often challenging the norm when it comes to walking down the aisle, however most of us can’t afford to go that over-the-top. In today’s society, where pop culture influences us in so many ways, how can we enjoy a less-traditional wedding while avoiding pushing the boundaries of good taste? Here are some wedding do’s and don’ts.

First Steps

First is something you should definitely do. Make it a point to match your gown to your location. If you’re getting married somewhere special, make your dress match. If you’re having a more simple, elegant reception, opt for a more traditional gown to avoid clashing. If your wedding is taking place in a more tropical setting, consider a shorter, tea-length dress with a pair of fun shoes. You may even consider going barefoot!

Don’t let your desire for a classy wedding reception scare you away from your dream dress. Even if your dress is low-cut and seemingly inappropriate, you can always dress it up with a sash. Not only does this class up your look, it also adds something extra to it. Ultimately, your dress is your decision on your big day! Don’t allow family or friends to dictate the dress you’ll be walking down the aisle in.

Love Your Shoes

Do have a little fun when it comes to your footwear. If you’re having your wedding on the beach, you may opt for flip-flops instead of heels. During winter, it may not be comfortable or practical to wear sandals or heels so it’s perfectly okay to go for fuzzy snow boots under your gown. If the weather permits it, go crazy with your shoes!

Definitely don’t attend your own wedding looking more casual than your guests. If you’ve painstakingly made sure everyone in your wedding party is dressed like they’re attending a formal event, you’d better do the same! Dressing casually for your own wedding could throw off the whole event.

Wedding Day Musts

Do go against traditional ideals. In this day and age, it’s more important than ever for weddings to stand out above the rest. Since we’re not as conventional as our counterparts from previous generations, today’s brides are less inclined for the plain, a-lined white gown. Before making any final decisions regarding dresses, make sure to get your officiant’s blessing first.

Do choose a train that’s appropriate for the location of your wedding. For example, opt for a shorter veil as opposed to a train when holding your ceremony on the beach. You want to avoid damaging delicate fabrics by dragging them across the sand.

Defying convention in lieu of a more memorable and unique ceremony doesn’t have to mean completely pushing the boundaries of good taste. You can do small things like wearing festive shoes under your gown, or even adding a sash to make your sexy gown appear a little more modest. These things will make your wedding more personal to you and still keep things classy.

Surprise Wedding Toast Goes Viral

It was on June 29th that Jennifer Gabrielli’s older sister would wed her long time love, and it was also the day that she would give one of the most iconic bridesmaid’s toasts of all time. She announced it to the guests that her speech included a “musical snack,” which immediately had her older sister, the bride, curious to see what she whipped up. As the beat kicks in, one of the groomsmen pulls out a black, Victoria’s Secret “Love Pink,” hooded zip up to help put on Gabrielli. Low and behold… she had successfully taken Eminem’s hit single, Without Me, and created a personal wedding toast for her big sis. The video went viral within days.

Gabrielli told ABC News that she “didn’t want to get up there and get nervous, and forget everything, and start to cry.” However, when she stood in front of the 200 guests, she had no reservations, and just went for it. The 24 year old bridesmaid was given credit where credit was due with her mock chorus “Now this looks like it’s meant to be, so everybody just toast with me. Raise your glasses if you’re thirsty, ’cause tonight we’re here to P-PAR-TEE.” While the crowd seemed shocked at first, it did not take long before everyone was clapping with the beat and laughing along with the bridal party.

While her mother helped her practice on their way down to the La Costa Resort in California, Gabrielli wanted to still make the light hearted speech more personal. At the end of her viral rap video, she says “I love you bigger than the sky,” and she explained to ABC that was something her family had always said to each other. When her moment was over, her mother rushed to the stage to give her a kiss, and the 200 wedding guests gave her a standing ovation.

She also did not stray away from giving her new brother-in-law a few digs, “Through thin and thick they ain’t gonna quit, everybody’s talking about this great fit. Blake, he don’t wanna get his butt kicked, toilet seats down and he does the dish-es.”

Gabrielli has been writing songs since she was a little girl, but it always proved to be more of a hobby for the administrative assistant at California University.

It’s a Party Dress, Not a Uniform- Why it’s Important For Bridesmaids to Be Comfortable

custom bridesmaid dress

As every little girl grows up, they ultimately envision their perfect wedding at one point in their life or another. They have the perfect dress, the perfect husband, but then something they do not look into until they’re older; bridesmaid’s dresses.

Bridesmaid’s dresses have plagued women for years and become the ritual that could formally be titled “How Bad Do I Look in This?” Where does the history of bridesmaids dresses turn sour? It could be the invention of taffeta, or the invention of any fabric that makes a noise as your walk. However, as the decades of weddings go by, it is always the bride that makes the final decision on what you’ll be wearing in the photos she’ll carry around for a lifetime, but why have these dresses allowed fashion to take an 80’s step back? Because it’s the bride’s wedding, not yours.

However, there has been a shift in the atmosphere, and brides are beginning to show a little more sympathy for their bridal party. As many women know, bridesmaid’s dresses are one of the key staples in the wedding process. As many colors and cuts have been generically used, and the population of taffeta declining; designers are beginning to show trendier looks. These new looks are displaying more flexible cuts, new color combinations, and they are carrying some amazing designer labels on the neck.

This poses the next problem, the price of bridesmaid’s dresses. If one has ever seen bridesmaids, in the pivotal food poisoning scene at the bridal store that had many rolling on the floor laughing, there is more to it than just horrible food from a back alley Mexican restaurant. It was about the fact that these women could not agree on the cost of a dress! For the brides reading this; let your designated handlers (i.e. bridesmaids) have about 55% of the decision in what they will be wearing for close to 24 hours. These dresses, according to fact, need to get your bridesmaids through chasing after what you cannot find (cell phone, ring, champagne glass), thousands of photos, and dancing all night long at the reception. So, please, for all the brides out there, think about your bridesmaids because in the end, these dresses are not meant for any other event besides that full day. Let the gals have a little leeway in their dresses. Of course, you still determine the color, and you cannot have them upstage you, but find the happy medium, because no one needs the extra stress of an unhappy bridesmaid. So, take a moment and put on the bridesmaids shoes, even though the whole point was that you did not have to, and try to understand that they want their custom bridesmaid dress to be a party dress just like yours. They don’t want to be wearing a uniform.

Bad Dress Etiquette: Are You A Good Bridesmaid?

So your best girlfriend since Kindergarten is getting married. If you haven’t been included in the selection process, you’re likely being emailed a link to the terrible bridesmaid dress she’s requesting you wear to the festivities.
Is there any way to get around wearing that awful thing or do you suck it up and swallow your pride? After all, you’ll only have to wear that dress once.

                                                                              Bridesmaid Dresses Wrong

There are some instances where it’s okay to speak up about your dress. The bride should take into account that unless all of her friends are Stepford Wives, no two women are going to look exactly the same. The style of dress chosen for the bridesmaids should be equally flattering on all shapes. That being said, if your dress doesn’t flatter your figure, it’s perfectly fine to speak up. I mean, there are

Another reason to speak up is cost. It can be downright expensive being a bridesmaid. It can cost up to $1,000.00 for a bridesmaid to attend the wedding. If the dress the bride selected is a little above your price range, it’s perfectly acceptable to inquire about a less expensive, but equally tasteful option.
You’ll want to remember that when addressing any issues with the bride, that you don’t want to be confrontational. Keeping a calm head is more likely to yield results after all!

In situations when your grievance is not about function or finance, it may not be appropriate to complain about your dress to the bride. If you’re just not digging the color of the dress or the ruffles on the bust, then you may be out of luck. When dealing with your friends, sometimes you need to bite the bullet and take one for the team. Your dear friend will (hopefully) only be marrying once, so this is the last time you’ll have to look at that dress.
