While there is a dark cloud that seems to lurk over the news of being chosen as a bridesmaid, it’s not all bad. There are actually some serious perks of not being the first one of your girlfriends to be married off into the wild world of marital bliss. Of course, there is the list of cons including,

- Maid-of-Honor speech [If you're not good at giving speeches, of course]
- The 50-50 chance of a bad bridesmaid dress and/or shoes
However, there are at least three awesome benefits of being a chosen as a bridesmaid. Besides the fact that you could potentially find your future husband within the groomsmen, here are some other awesome reasons why saying ‘yes,’ to being a bridesmaid is not a death sentence.
1.) Learn From The Bride’s Mistakes
It’s kind of like what you say your entire life while growing up – “I’m never going to be like my parents.” – Yeah, well you don’t want to be a bridezilla either. If you bestie is causing some serious drama and stress with her high priced wedding demands, just remember that when you down the aisle, “I’m never going to be like her.”
2.) Play Dress Up
What little girl did not go through a dress-up phase while growing up? Being a bridesmaid is as close as you’ll get to being a princess until it’s your wedding day. So, enjoy having the opportunity to get all dolled up with your hair and makeup. Plus, if you’re lucky, the bridesmaid dress will basically make you look like you just walked out of a fashion catalog.
3.) Make New Friends
As you grow up and move around – whether it be from your job or just relocating after college – your friend count might dwindle. When you get invited to a wedding and you are offered the position of being a bridesmaid, you could potentially be making some new BFF’s, which would up your friend count.
So, if you end up getting that invitation in the mail or if she asks you in person, weddings are not all drama. There are some serious benefits of saying “yes,” to the bride – plus, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
