Daughter Films Faux Wedding Dance With Dying Father

One of the most important moments in any girls life, is on her wedding day when she gets to have her dance with her dad. There is something about that moment that will forever bring tears to on-looking eyes, and especially in the moment that went viral between Rachel Wolf and her father. In September of 2011, Rachel’s father, Dr. James Wolf, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. For the past two years he has undergone extensive treatment, and is coming up on the end of his battle.

Although Rachel is not even engaged, she knows that when that day comes, she would forever regret not having that special moment with her dad. So, she decided to surprise him with a faux wedding so they could have their last dance and when the day comes, she can play that video. “It meant more to him than I ever thought it would,” Rachel explained to ABC News. “The joy that I saw in his face when he saw me was amazing.”

While the video has gone viral, Rachel has explained that she does not want to watch it until her actual wedding day. In the event that her father would not physically make it to one of the biggest moments in her life, for her, now he still can be. “I was completely taken aback,” Dr. Wolf explained. “It was a special idea to remember her father at her wedding day.” Although his interview was brief, a lot of his energy was drained from the dance, but it can be seen on his face in the video that he has never seen his daughter look so beautiful.

75 Gowns Collected For Military Charity

military_wedding_imageThe custom, formal bride boutique, Bella Bridesmaid, recently hosted a fundraiser for Charity Dress Collection which is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free gowns to those who serve in the military. The event collected 75 used gowns for mother of the bride and bridesmaids, all of which were donated by generous Hartford, Connecticut residents.

This collection of donations was part of Bella Bridesmaid’s large and generous relationship with the non-profit organization, which also includes seasonal donations of bridesmaid’s gowns to keep them feeling newer and appealing. “We launched this timely program over the Independence Day holiday to honor the service men and women who protect and defend our countries freedom,” explained Madison Ross, co-owner of Bella Bridesmaid Boutique. “We are grateful to the swelling of support from local women who cleaned out their closets and stopped by our store to donate an unwanted gown to an appreciative military family.”

It is no secret that although weddings are a big life celebration, they are still very expensive, and the dresses can be one of the most difficult things to find in an affordable price range. However, with charities such as Charity Dress Collection, many brides will still be able to have the wedding they have always dreamed of with the perfect dresses. The benefit for those who are in need of bridesmaids dresses is that no dress is accepted if it does not fit company standards. Bridesmaid’s dresses can be beautiful and timeless, regardless if they are used or donated.

Nene Leakes Hints At Drama Among Bridesmaids

jennifer-williams-nene-leakes-wedding-christian-louboutin-nude-pumps-2The reality television star, Nene Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, has been filming for her new spin-off show focusing on her second marriage to her first husband, Gregg Leakes. Ever since the show aired, Leakes has been a favorite among viewers with her up front attitude and hilarious personality. Now, Leakes will be walking down the aisle and finally getting her own television show which is sure to bring in high ratings for Bravo!

The world will be able to see Leakes’ wedding when I Dream Of Nene airs on Bravo! and she hinted on Twitter, “I learned a lot about my bridesmaids while planning my wedding and it wasn’t all good! Tune in.” As a fan of Nene Leakes, whether she is on Glee or the Real Housewives of Atlanta, she is sure to bring drama and even make you laugh out loud. Before her nuptials, Leakes tweeted who her bridesmaids would be and a majority of them are reality stars themselves.

Now, despite the issues she had with her bridesmaids, Leakes knew that the wedding would be an emotional process. In an interview with Life & Style magazine, Leakes gushed on her once ex-husband, “Both of us want this, so it will definitely work this time. I know exactly what I’m getting myself into. It was more romantic this time than the first, Gregg and I are real adults, so it was better.”

That’s good for Nene, but the bridesmaids always hold the responsibility of causing drama, and in the case of reality television, drama brings it ratings.

Jimmy Kimmel’s Wedding Pranked By Precious Star

Clipboard

Late night funnyman and show host, Jimmy Kimmel, stood at the end of the long white aisle in California waiting to finally see his beautiful bride. However, as the music began to play, Gabourey Sidibe, the lead actress from Precious, appeared in a wedding gown with a green umbrella to block the hot sun. While the entire crowd laughed, Kimmel was impressed that such an elaborate prank would be pulled off on his behalf.

According to a guest that spoke to Us Weekly, Kimmel’s bride to-be, Molly McNearney, helped orchestrate the joke along with Sidibe. There is no doubt that if you are going to marry Jimmy Kimmel, a designated funnyman, you have to have a sense of humor.

After the joke had run its course, McNearney walked down the aisle looking more beautiful than ever. After the nuptials, Sidibe traded in the veil and gown for a red dress and some white flats. Their wedding was attended by many other famous faces from Kimmel’s connection to the entertainment industry. Future bride, Jennifer Aniston was in attendance along with Dax Shepard and his wife, Kristen Bell. Kimmel and McNearney have been dating since 2008, and then upon a trip to South Africa in 2012, Kimmel popped the question.

Always A Bridesmaid – Never A Sequel

The infamous cast of Bridesmaids

The infamous cast of Bridesmaids

For the past two years, rumors have been swirling around the comedic wedding pool determining if there will be another box office smash for the Bridesmaids franchise. The movie that was essentially The Hangover for women has officially been declared one-and-done, but that does not mean it was not a success.

Bridesmaids broke box office records upon its 2011 release with an Academy Award nominated cast. So, why turn down a project that could crush the box office yet again, just from the anticipation? The star, Kristen Wiig, mentioned to Harper’s Bazaar, that her career is not money motivated. “We would have made a lot of money if there was a second one, but that’s not my goal in my creative life,” Wiig explained “We knew during the first one, this was it.”

The poster became an iconic staple in wedding photos for the bride and her bridesmaids, in which the bride and her maids stand lackluster for the camera in the gown and dresses rather than the standard smile from ear to ear. While fans would love another movie, there is no point in destroying something we already love. Even though Wiig turned down the Bridesmaids 2 idea without batting an eye, she is still looking forward to all her upcoming projects coming out within the next year.

In-Game Wedding Allows Dedicated Gamers to Marry Their Avatars

custom bridesmaid dressesMuch like many other online role playing games, the popular World Of Warcraft franchise also allows players to marry their avatars for a nominal fee. The ceremonies are performed by an in-game priest and a script is emailed to participating parties the day before the event. Since the ceremony isn’t free of charge, you will also be receiving an invoice which includes the ceremony itself and two photos which will be mailed to the address linked to the paypal account provided. Dedicated players should also know that only a small number of servers will allow these unions to take place.

Marital Status

Despite the time and money that goes into these virtual weddings, the truth still holds that they don’t affect your marital status outside of the game. How can you have a unique and unconventional ceremony if you’re dead-set on marriage in real life. You may not be able to have your wedding on location at Stormwind Gazebo, but you can still have a unique and memorable wedding.

One thing you can do to make your wedding more unique is to defy conventional thinking by having your closest friends and family marry you as opposed to a minister. Getting everyone involved in the process allows the rest of the wedding party to show their commitment to the bride and groom.

Unique Wedding Perks

Another unique touch you can add to your ceremony is to genderbend members of the wedding party. For instance, instead of a best man, the groom can appoint a best girl. The bride can even appoint her best guy friend or brother as a man of honor. The bride and groom may even opt to go without an official bridal party altogether. Instead, just tell everyone invited that they are the bridal party. Add a special touch to your ceremony by implementing unique seating arrangements. Instead of traditional chairs, you can opt for items like hay bales or beanbag chairs (or something more specific if you’ve chosen a theme) for your guests to sit on.

You don’t always having to spend a fortune on a pricey banquet hall; Holding your ceremony in a place that’s significant to both you and your fiance will also make the wedding day a lot more special. If the bride and groom are gamers, for example and you met in an arcade, it wouldn’t be too far fetched to get married in that same arcade. If you’re aiming to get a little closer to traditional, you might consider holding your ceremony in a restaurant of your choosing or a relative’s back yard.

Custom Touch

One of the best ways to add a custom touch to your wedding is to write your own vows. What better way is there to show just how excited you are to be with the person you’re marrying than to write them a beautiful set of wedding vows.

Lastly, Don’t be afraid to get creative with your wedding. Since it’s your wedding, and up to this point no other part of it has been traditional, don’t go for a “traditional” set-up in order to appease one or more of your guests. If you’ve opted for a theme wedding, make the dresses and decorations match that theme.

Overall, you want your wedding to be as memorable and personal as possible. It’s perfectly okay to defy tradition when it comes to your wedding. Don’t be afraid to add special touches to make your wedding more unique, or to turn down the pricey banquet hall in lieu of a location that may be more meaningful to you and your fiance.

Avril’s Recent Wedding Defies Conventional Ideals

custom bridesmaid dresses

Singer Avril Lavigne

When we were planning our dream weddings as little girls, most of us aimed for a more traditional approach: the white beaded dress with the long train and simple, dewy  makeup. Singer Avril Lavigne threw all of that out the window for her recent wedding to fellow musician Chad Kroeger. Her wedding, which took place in a castle in France was anything but traditional. Lavigne and her groom walked down the aisle in all black, Lavigne’s eyes lined with thick, black liner.

Celebrities are often challenging the norm when it comes to walking down the aisle, however most of us can’t afford to go that over-the-top. In today’s society, where pop culture influences us in so many ways, how can we enjoy a less-traditional wedding while avoiding pushing the boundaries of good taste? Here are some wedding do’s and don’ts.

First Steps

First is something you should definitely do. Make it a point to match your gown to your location. If you’re getting married somewhere special, make your dress match. If you’re having a more simple, elegant reception, opt for a more traditional gown to avoid clashing. If your wedding is taking place in a more tropical setting, consider a shorter, tea-length dress with a pair of fun shoes. You may even consider going barefoot!

Don’t let your desire for a classy wedding reception scare you away from your dream dress. Even if your dress is low-cut and seemingly inappropriate, you can always dress it up with a sash. Not only does this class up your look, it also adds something extra to it. Ultimately, your dress is your decision on your big day! Don’t allow family or friends to dictate the dress you’ll be walking down the aisle in.

Love Your Shoes

Do have a little fun when it comes to your footwear. If you’re having your wedding on the beach, you may opt for flip-flops instead of heels. During winter, it may not be comfortable or practical to wear sandals or heels so it’s perfectly okay to go for fuzzy snow boots under your gown. If the weather permits it, go crazy with your shoes!

Definitely don’t attend your own wedding looking more casual than your guests. If you’ve painstakingly made sure everyone in your wedding party is dressed like they’re attending a formal event, you’d better do the same! Dressing casually for your own wedding could throw off the whole event.

Wedding Day Musts

Do go against traditional ideals. In this day and age, it’s more important than ever for weddings to stand out above the rest. Since we’re not as conventional as our counterparts from previous generations, today’s brides are less inclined for the plain, a-lined white gown. Before making any final decisions regarding dresses, make sure to get your officiant’s blessing first.

Do choose a train that’s appropriate for the location of your wedding. For example, opt for a shorter veil as opposed to a train when holding your ceremony on the beach. You want to avoid damaging delicate fabrics by dragging them across the sand.

Defying convention in lieu of a more memorable and unique ceremony doesn’t have to mean completely pushing the boundaries of good taste. You can do small things like wearing festive shoes under your gown, or even adding a sash to make your sexy gown appear a little more modest. These things will make your wedding more personal to you and still keep things classy.

A Wedding Day Hairstyle for Every Hair Type

When choosing a hairstyle for your wedding day there are different factors to take into consideration such as your hair type and what it will look like at the end of the night, and if it will compliment the style of wedding dress you have chosen.

_______________________________________________________________________________

SHORT HAIR

It is hard for a bride with a short style to make your hair look different from your everyday, ordinary do.  Here are some suggestions to add a touch of glamour.

* Curl

If your hair has a little length, but is still not long enough to do an up-do,
try doing loose, wavy curls.  This will add softness, and make you feel like
your look is put together and complete.

* Embellish

If you have naturally straight hair that is resistant to curling or is just
too short, put on a detailed headband or elegant hair pin. This is your
chance to accessorize your wedding dress in a different way than just
wearing extravagant jewelry or shoes.

MEDIUM LENGTH HAIR

This is the easiest hair length for special occasions because it is not too long and heavy for up do’s but is still enough to create a style.

* Braid

Braiding can give your hair texture and dimension. You can either use
them to create an edgier look or a simple ‘goddess’ effect. This would be
good for a younger bride with darker hair who is having a non-formal
ceremony and reception

* Chignon

A low textured chignon (a fancy name for a bun!) that is set off to the
side is a romantic style that looks good on all hair colors and face shapes.
The key to this style is for it to look natural and unpolished. You want to
curl your hair beforehand and have loose curls flowing freely. This works
best for people that have angles towards the front of their hair or longer
bangs.

LONG HAIR

With this hair length you have the most options to choose from when it comes to hair styles. It’s your chance to be creative and different!

* High Ponytail

A pulled back ponytail is a way to focus on your top half and is good if
you are wearing statement jewelry. To make it fancy add a little volume
at the crown of your head but be careful not to tease too much! Look at
your ponytail from different angles in order to find the right height.
Then you can chose to either curl the remainder of your hair or leave
it straight.

* Half-up

This timeless style will always look good on all long hair! Create loose,
tousled waves with a little volume at the crown. Then pull back the top
half of your hair, leaving a few front pieces to frame your face. To make
it more complete, twist the two sides towards each other and add a
sparkly accessory to cover the pins!

Summer Wedding Tips to Beat the Heat

With the summer heat beating down at over 90 degrees even at 5:30 in the evening, it may be hard to imagine planning a wedding during the summer months.  There are certainly many things to consider, such as cost, and vendor availability, as the summer is the most popular time to get married.  If you do decide to plan your wedding day for a summer month, here are some tips to beat the heat:

1.  Wear light fabrics and make sure you have your wedding party do the same.  The only thing worse than picking an uncomfortably dress for your summer wedding day is picking out bridesmaid dresses that are not season appropriate.  You do not want 4 heat-frustrated ex-friends on your hands!  Try Liz Fields bridesmaid dress style #430 for a light feminine style.

2.  Consider an evening wedding when things will have cooled off considerably.  With some good timing and luck, you might even get a beautiful sunset as the backdrop for your vows!

3.  If you are planning to have your wedding outside, plan for a location where there is breeze, like the ocean.  Most guests will not mind the hot weather if they have an ocean breeze on their faces and a beautiful view.

4.  Embrace the summer as part of your wedding theme by handing out fans as favors for your guests as the walk in.  This is a wedding favor they will use over and over and remember your special day.
