Wedding Day Makeup

When planning your wedding day most brides think about their wedding dress first, then maybe what accessories they will wear, and then what bridesmaid dresses their party will wear.  However during wedding planning it is also important to think about what you would like your wedding day makeup to look like!  Here are a few wedding makeup trends to help you draw inspiration from.

‘The Color Smoky Eye’

A smoky eye no longer means shades of grey, black with a silver highlight!

For a more modern look use shades of purple, green and blue to create a ‘bridal appropriate’ smoky eye. This is a more unconventional look that could be daring for a lot of brides but done in a subtle matter with the correct shades will make your eyes pop!

‘The Bold Lip’

Sometimes Women make the mistake of playing up more than one feature at a time. You do not want to look like you’ve decided to put on all the makeup you own at once! Chose you best feature that you want to accentuate and work on that.
A bold red or pink lip is a romantic choice that is a simple way of tying your look together if you don’t want to pile on the makeup.

‘The Golden Eye’

This is a new trend that has shown up on the 2013 Runway’s, a goddess golden eye! Sweep a shade of deep gold with a copper brown in the crease to highlight your eyes and achieve a sexy, dewy complexion. This is perfect for darker skin tones!

Airbrush Makeup!

To get your foundation to last all day consider using airbrush foundation! This gives a flawless finish that will cover all imperfections and discoloration. If you don’t feel the need to purchase your own airbrush foundation, go to your local makeup counter and get it professionally applied!

Get the Look: Taylor Swift

Try Liz Fields bridesmaid’s dress style#225!  This short, strapless chiffon/charmeuse dress is the perfect style for any special occasion, and is the perfect way to wear Taylor’s signature color Red.  Plus the embellishment on the neckline and the shirred fly-away panel on the skirt give an ultra-feminine touch.

Liz Fields wedding dress style#9204 is the perfect dress to achieve Taylor Swift’s goddess look from the 45th Annual CMA Awards! The modified sweetheart neckline and asymmetrical raw edged layer creates a soft feeling that ties together the entire look. The vintage embellished waistband adds that extra sparkle that every women wishes to achieve on their special day.

Picking the Perfect Bridesmaid Dress

There is nothing worse than being the bridesmaid who puts on an act of loving to wear that dreadful, tacky bridesmaids dress that the bride swore would be the most flattering dress because it obviously would look good on every body type.

Here are some tips for the bride to make sure their bridesmaids are the perfect complement on their big day:

Consider your environment

Much like your wedding dress, you want to make sure the bridesmaids’ dresses are cohesive with your theme and venue. When going for an outdoor wedding, choose something casual that still looks put together without taking away from the scenery.

Let the spotlight be on you

Don’t be afraid to act like a little bit of a diva! Today is your day and even though you want your wedding party to feel comfortable, stay away from dresses with a lot of embellishments or details.

Cover up!

Any cleavage should be put away and left to the imagination.  Every bridesmaid will have a different body type, it is important to consider these factors especially when choosing a strapless or low V-neck line. This is up to each individual bride, but major tattoos or piercings can go along with taking away from the bride’s attention. If the dress does not cover any tattoos that you wish to not be shown in your photos there are always options such as airbrush makeup, which is a temporary concealer that can be removed with soap and water.

Try Letting Your Bridesmaids Wear Different Style Dresses

This has become more of a trend lately where the bride allows the bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses that can either be different styles, lengths, or colors. This would be most appropriate for a more casual wedding or if you’re on a budget!

Still not comfortable going that casual? Stick to the same color scheme but with different necklines and lengths.

Prom Inspiration: Channel Your Inner Hermione

For as long as anyone can remember people have been turning to movies, television shows, and books for inspiration. This seems to be especially true when it comes to things like weddings and proms. Wedding days and prom nights are special, and every woman wants to look her best.

Everyone under the age of 35 has felt the influence of Harry Potter. The character of Hermione Granger proved that girls don’t have to be shy and sweet to be liked. Hermione proved that she could hold her own, be extremely smart, and also enjoy being a girl. When it comes to picking a role model, you’ll find worse choices (*cough* Bella Swan *cough*).

If you ask most girls what their favorite Harry Potter moment was, they’ll almost always tell you that it was the dance that took place about halfway through Goblet of Fire. The dance was the first time that Hermione stopped becoming a tom-boy and showed Hogwarts that she was a beautiful woman. This is just the kind of reaction every girl dreams of getting when she is searching for her prom dress.

Hermione's Elegant Dress

Any girl who wants to channel her inner Hermione on her prom night will want to take care when looking for a dress. She’ll want to stay away from fussy, frilly dresses that make dancing difficult. You’ll want to look for something that’s pretty and elegant.

Chiffon is a great choice when it comes to a prom dress. Chiffon is light enough that it makes moving around easy, but also pretty and very feminine. Chiffon shows off your figure without being clinging or two tight.  Stick to a single color of material which will not only allow you to show off your body, but will keep the dress from becoming too busy, just make sure that the color flatters your skin tone.

When you’re looking at prom dresses you should also think about how much dancing you expect to be doing that night.  Strapless dresses can be beautiful, but the worry of it slipping while you’re dancing might not be worth it to you.

A final tip for emulating Hermionie’s elegance is once you’ve selected the perfect prom dress, don’t wear so much jewelry that it distracts from the dress and your natural beauty.

Most importantly, don’t forget to have fun!!

Who is wearing Liz Fields: Mimi Weingart!

Mimi Weingart first contacted us at the end of May, desperately in search of Liz Fields bridesmaid dress style 237 which she had fallen in love with and wanted to wear to a wedding.  We were able to locate a Liz Fields authorized retailer in her area and got the dress to her just in time for the event.  However, the more I corresponded with  Mimi the more I realized that she had a story worth sharing with everyone. Please enjoy this edition of “Who is wearing Liz Fields” as told by Mimi.

Mimi in Liz Fields Style 237

"I did nothing to the garment but take up the hem. It fit me like a glove.”

“Culmination to Victory”

By Mimi Weingart

You’re born a girl. You have girl dreams. They are good dreams not illusions as pessimists claim. Cartoonists of the world have created a billion dollar industry putting girl dreams onto paper, film and video and yet when a live and flesh girl wishes on a star this is called silly. Oh. Well. I guess that makes me a “silly” too because Cinderella is my hero. People laugh when I confess such but then I explain. Cinderella has made Faith her servant and that’s pretty powerful stuff. Think about it. She continues to believe and trust in the unseen things even when the worst is upon her. So irresistible is her faith that those unseen things can’t help but to bear fruit to her hearts deepest desires.

Don’t we all wish we could cultivate such fortitude? And while doing so, shouldn’t we dress the part? When I donned my Liz Fields dress it was the first time in my life I had worn such a bold vivacious color. After a series of personal grievances staged breathlessly back to back over a period of 8 years – a failed marriage, a child diagnosed with autism, the death of a beloved grandparent, I found solace in Hagen Daz and potato chips paying a dear price for it. My physical and spiritual health suffered with each pant size gained apexing in excess of 70 pounds. My choice of clothing, all blacks, grays and a neutral cream here and there, reflected my desire to blend in unnoticed, desperate to hide my tiredness. I had lost faith in those unseen things. I no longer wished on stars. What a un-Cindy thing to do.

Recently, my 5 year old daughter Delilah, popped in a Cinderella tape her babysitter had borrowed from the Library and a flood of memories of who and what I used to be came rushing back to me. I watched Cinderella with my beautiful daughter 3 times in a row, seeing with eyes anew and becoming renourished and recommitted with every play. I decided to go back to working my Cinderella plan exactly as I thought I should as a child when my dreams came from an unadulterated place. I continually tweaked as I exercised new muscles, slowing putting all my ducks in a row, breaking new ground while keeping older proven ground fresh. It became effortless this new staying committed to my seemingly insurmountable weight loss endeavor because spiritual well being came first. The new size 8 is side benefit as far as I’m concerned allowing me to wear the colors not the style of garments per se I’ve always desired to wear with confidence.

I’m still working my plan but I can see graduation on the horizon. I now sneak a wish on stars again. I think celebration of my metamorphoses will be a blood rose red stunner. Don’t recall if there is a corresponding Princess to such a hue but tell Liz Fields that she should most certainly make one up.

"This is a picture of my daughter Delilah. She's the light of my life!"

Spring is Here!

Its official my friends, spring is here! It may not feel like it where you live, but don’t worry, it will before you know it.

The first thing I think of when I hear spring is color! In September, WWD predicted the top-10 Pantone colors for the upcoming spring 2011 season. Amongst them were colors such as: Coral Rose, Beeswax, and Silver Cloud.

At the same time, our Liz Fields style #300 was featured in Us Weekly Magazine In the “Hollywood Trend Watch – Look of the week/Look for Less” section. Us Weekly felt that our social occasion dress served as the perfect alternative to that of Odette Yustman’s Mousseline gown!  We were of course honored at the comparison, but also concerned, as we did not yet have that color option available. Well, now we are proud to announce that we do!

Left: Liz Fields style #300 in the “Look of the week/Look for Less” section of Us Weekly.
Right: Liz Fields Bridesmaid dress Style #300 in Tangerine Chiffon

In addition to adding Tangerine to our vast selection of color options for bridesmaid and social occasion dresses, we have also added Orange, Magenta, and Charcoal, (colors that have a distinct resemblance to those predicted to be hot by WWD all those months ago). We have also added two additional print fabrics to our collection as well!
