Tips for Having a Large Wedding

custom wedding dresses

Having a large wedding is a great way to celebrate the love between you and your partner. Large weddings will be memorable for everyone involved, and planning a large wedding does not have to be stressful. Here are a few tips to help you make the most out of your wedding planning experience without becoming overwhelmed or stressed out.

Vendors

Hire vendors you can trust. Having a reliable list of vendors at your service will help prevent a total wedding meltdown. Enlisting a group of experienced professionals will help you to feel like you are in good hands and reduce the amount of time that you spend worried about things not getting done. In order to find the right vendors, consult your friends and family. Use vendors that others have had success with and don’t be afraid to ask people for recommendations. If someone did a good job for another person, chances are they will do a good job for you too.

Reputable vendors are easy to find when you enlist the help of co-workers and friends. Chances are, everyone you know has either had a wedding or knows someone who has. Enlisting your personal network to help you hire vendors will take the load off of your back and ensure that you’re in reliable hands.

Get Help

Instead of asking for wedding gifts, ask your loved ones for wedding help. You’d be surprised at what can get accomplished when people come together and pool their resources. Having the help of others will be the best wedding present you’ll receive. The more people willing to help you, the better. Don’t hesitate to delegate certain aspects of your wedding to people that you trust. For those you have less confidence in, find small things that are still necessary.

Planning

If you decide to have a large wedding make sure that you set aside plenty of time for planning. It may not be feasible for you to have a large wedding if you are the type of person who does things last minute or if you never find yourself having enough time in the day. If this sounds like you, a large wedding may be an invitation for stress. Make sure that you are able to set aside plenty of time to devote strictly to planning your wedding. If you try and plan a large wedding on a whim or on too short of notice, you may find yourself in messy situation. If you have the option of hiring a wedding planner, by all means do so. A wedding planner will reduce the amount of responsibilities on your plate and free up a lot of time for you to enjoy the wedding planning process with your partner.

Tips for Your Destination Wedding

wedding dresses

Planning a destination wedding can be an adventure for you and your groom to embark upon together. The planning is usually very detailed, and by following a few simple tips you will be able to ensure that the experience is less stressful and more fun. Between choosing the right destination, finding accommodations and familiarizing yourself with a foreign country it may seem like you have a lot of your plate, but do not despair. Use these tips to help you simplify the process.

Choosing the right location can mean the difference between spending over budget and saving money compared to having a wedding in the United States. For instance, if you chose a destination such as the Bahamas and you live in New York City, chances are that even with airfare your wedding will be less expensive than if you’d had it in the States. By the same token, don’t forget to factor in all of the extra expenses in order to stay within your budget. Food, airfare, hotels, and other expenses need to be taken into account in order to ensure that you don’t over spend during your destination wedding.

Be careful when choosing which vendors to work with. There are a number of online resources that can help you determine which vendors are credible and which vendors you should avoid. In order to help you figure out whom to trust, it’s important that you do some research. The worst thing that could happen to you is to entrust someone with your money only to find out that they can’t deliver on their promises. Finding people to work with in a foreign country always requires a little extra care. Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends and family for help as well as consult with local travel agents and other professionals with expertise abroad.

Always inform your loved ones where your wedding is going to be before you invite them to be a part of essential planning. It’s important to give everyone a chance to determine whether or not they will be able to make it. Not everyone is going to be able to afford airfare; hotel and other expense so don’t expect your entire guest list to attend. In fact, it’s safe to assume that a number of people will not be able to come.

Check the local whether predictions ahead of time and make sure you don’t go to a remote island during hurricane season. The weather is always going to unpredictable, but with a little research you can reduce the odds of having your wedding during a full blown monsoon. Don’t assume that just because you are having your wedding in a tropical paradise, that the weather is always perfect. Also make sure to set aside plenty of time to pick out bridesmaid and wedding dresses.

A Wedding Dress That Will Flatter Your Body Shape!

When choosing a wedding dress you want to make sure it is the correct silhouette for your body shape that will look flattering in person and in pictures!

Pear Shaped:

Chose an A-Line wedding dress that gradually flares out from the waist downward to make your mid section appear narrow. You want to make the focus your upper half by wearing a one shoulder, strapless, v-neck or scoop neckline.

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #9233
This strapless ball gown style dress with a full skirt is the perfect dress to accentuate your tiny waist!  The  jewel encrusted waistband brings even more attention to your top half and minimizes your waist.

Busty:

Many women believe if you have a larger bust you are unable to wear any type of strapless style, this is untrue! It is all about choosing the right type of strapless neckline for your bust. Look for a style with a scoop neckline or just any type of slight dip along the neckline. This will still showcase your cleavage but in a classy, appropriate way. Avoid a straight across neckline or any type of fabric with a sheen to it such as organza or silk which will actually make your bust appear even larger.

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #8369
This sweetheart neckline made out of crisp Taffeta is the perfect fabric and neckline that will flatter a larger bust.

Tall:

For taller women look for a simple silhouette that will emphasize your natural shape. A good way of doing this is having a lower waistline and a floor sweeping hem!

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #9229
This mermaid style wedding dress is great for taller women with long torso’s. The silhouette is still simple but the jewel embellishment adds a little interest to make the bride feel extra special.

Petite:

Smaller body frames want to look for a modified A-line wedding dress that lays above your natural waistline that will make you appear longer. There is no specific type of fabric to look for you can either chose a simple material or one with sheen however you want to keep the attention towards your top half. Avoid any big details such as an over-sized bow which will make you look disproportionate.

We recommend:

Liz Fields Style #9232

This empire waist gown with a silver embellished detail at the bust is the perfect waistline to make you appear long and lean! The chiffon cascade detail in the front is the right amount of detail to add height without being overwhelming.

Celebrity Bridal Style

If you are as obsessed with bridal fashion as we are at Liz Fields, then every time you hear that another celebrity has gotten engaged, your first thought is “What Will They Wear?”

Jennifer Aniston

Liz Fields Style 9106

Jennifer Aniston is known for having a classic, minimalist style. For her wedding dress she should go with a simple A line dress like this Liz Fields style. She is past the ‘princess’ dress phase, and it will not best show off her toned body. She has a great upper body which would be showcased in this sweetheart neckline with the chiffon bodice. Her fiance, Justin Theroux, likes a jeans and T-shirt kind of look that goes with her laid back style. She doesn’t need to have an outrageous, attention grabbing dress instead she can let her effortless beauty shine through and create the perfect wedding moment.

Avril Lavigne

Liz Fields Style 9151

Since this is Avril’s second wedding, shes going to want to have fun with it! Known for her crazy, punk style this voluminous layered tulle bottom will let her be the center of attention when walking down the aisle. She has stated that she wants to be involved with the design of her wedding dress this time and collaborate with the designer she chooses. The embellishment on this dress is not too flashy for Avril but still adds a little sparkle.

Miley Cyrus

Liz Fields Style 9003

Miley Cyrus likes to push boundaries and reveal as much skin as possible. This sweetheart neckline and form fitting wedding dress is the perfect style for Miley’s petite figure. The mermaid style shows off her youth and the gorgeous intricate beading and embellishment has a vintage feeling that Miley is known for gravitating towards.

Summer Wedding Tips to Beat the Heat

With the summer heat beating down at over 90 degrees even at 5:30 in the evening, it may be hard to imagine planning a wedding during the summer months.  There are certainly many things to consider, such as cost, and vendor availability, as the summer is the most popular time to get married.  If you do decide to plan your wedding day for a summer month, here are some tips to beat the heat:

1.  Wear light fabrics and make sure you have your wedding party do the same.  The only thing worse than picking an uncomfortably dress for your summer wedding day is picking out bridesmaid dresses that are not season appropriate.  You do not want 4 heat-frustrated ex-friends on your hands!  Try Liz Fields bridesmaid dress style #430 for a light feminine style.

2.  Consider an evening wedding when things will have cooled off considerably.  With some good timing and luck, you might even get a beautiful sunset as the backdrop for your vows!

3.  If you are planning to have your wedding outside, plan for a location where there is breeze, like the ocean.  Most guests will not mind the hot weather if they have an ocean breeze on their faces and a beautiful view.

4.  Embrace the summer as part of your wedding theme by handing out fans as favors for your guests as the walk in.  This is a wedding favor they will use over and over and remember your special day.

The Pros and Cons of a Memorial Day Wedding

As most brides already know, it is almost impossible to start planning your wedding until you have set a date.  With Memorial Day right around the corner, you may have started debating if you should arrange for your wedding falls on a holiday.  There are a few pros and cons to consider before having your wedding on a holiday such as Memorial Day.

The biggest advantage to arranging for a Memorial Day wedding is that most people get to have a three-day weekend, which increases the number of people who will be able to attend your wedding.  This is turn means that you will be surrounded by people you love!  Another benefit to the three-day weekend is that most people will be more willing to travel a further distance to make it to your wedding, which gives you more options when choosing a locale.

A Memorial Day wedding is also a great way to honor someone who you love, and who served in the military.  By choosing to have your wedding on this day, you can arrange to honor the person during the service.  This is a great way to remember loved ones you have lost, and to remind those who are still around that they are loved and remain an important part of your life.

An important thing to keep in mind is to book early if you think that Memorial Day or another holiday is the perfect choice for your wedding day.  Families tend to choose Memorial and Labor Day for their family get-togethers.  You might even have a barbeque to attend yourself!  It’s also a popular choice when planning senior graduation parties.  Banquet halls are often booked way in advance, making finding a venue large enough to hold all of your guests more challenging than you originally planned on.

By deliberately choosing Memorial Day for your wedding, you will be limiting the themes and colors you use for the wedding.  Your guests might expect your wedding to have a patriotic theme.

Following Irish Traditions for a St. Patrick’s Day Wedding

When it comes to picking a wedding date, looking to holidays is natural. If you’re of Irish descent, the temptation of a St Patrick’s Day wedding might prove too tempting to resist.

St. Patrick’s Day is an excellent choice for a wedding date. Not only is it a happy holiday, but it’s also considered a lucky one. In Ireland, it’s the luckiest day of the year for you to get married. Everyone, even the happiest of couples, can use a little luck as they embark on a new life together.

Liz Fields Bridesmaid Style 360 - Also available as Destination wedding dress style 8360

If you’re interested in a traditional St. Patrick’s Day wedding, you might want to rethink your dream wedding. Brides who chose to wed on St. Patty’s Day aren’t supposed to wear a  white wedding dress. Blue is the preferred color, preferably a pale blue that looks a little bit like the sky. It’s an innocent color that looks flattering against most skin types. The idea of wearing a white  wedding dress is a relatively new concept originally introduced by Queen Victoria (who chose white because it was economical). Prior to her wedding, the Irish felt blue was the color of purity.

While wearing your hair down and loose about your shoulders might be tempting, you should resist. Irish brides prefer braids. The braid is considered the symbol of feminine power. In addition to the braid, you should also think about adding some wildflowers to your hair, instead of donning a veil. The flowers will give you a youthful appearance, and also allow people to see your face.

One of the Irish traditions that’s making a comeback, particularly in St. Patrick’s Day weddings is hand fasting. Hand fasting was one of the pagan ceremonies that managed to wind its way into Christian services. It fell out of fashion for a while, but more and more brides have started to include it in their ceremony.
