In a more strange and hilarious turn of events, a couple video chatted their future selves at their wedding reception, mere hours after they said “I Do.” The newlyweds, Ben and Katie Nissen, filmed an interactive video short of themselves 50 years in the future, and it went way better than expected. Larissa and Ian met in 2005 when they were both still in college. After ten months of dating, and talks of marriage, Ian was in a devastating car accident that left him with a debilitating brain injury. After spending hours at the hospital, hoping that it wouldn’t be his brain, Larissa’s life stopped before her eyes.
So, why didn’t Larissa leave Ian? “I knew before Ian’s accident he was very serious about marriage and was ring shopping, so I knew where he was and that helped me so much after he couldn’t talk – I knew where he wanted the relationship to go,” Larissa explained in a video that explains how they came to the decision to continue on despite the odds.
She knew that if he could somewhat communicate with her, then their relationship could work – as long as he knew who she was and they could interact and communicate with each other. Larissa later explains in the video how God spared Ian’s life, “One night he was failing four to five activity tests and then the next morning he was doing well and his brain was starting to respond again.”
When Ian was recovering, his father was diagnosed with cancer, and with his condition worsening, Larissa knew how passionate he was about them tying the knot. To ensure that Ian was not marrying against his will, Larissa took him to a judge as his condition slightly improved – and when the judge ruled that he could make that decision, they married in 2012.
In a legitimate wedding ceremony, Ian and Larissa wed in a traditional wedding style. Larissa wore a beautiful cream colored gown and Ian even threw his fist up in the air with joy after they said their “I do’s.”
While there is a dark cloud that seems to lurk over the news of being chosen as a bridesmaid, it’s not all bad. There are actually some serious perks of not being the first one of your girlfriends to be married off into the wild world of marital bliss. Of course, there is the list of cons including,
- Bridezilla’s wrath
- Creepy groomsmen
- Maid-of-Honor speech [If you're not good at giving speeches, of course]
- The 50-50 chance of a bad bridesmaid dress and/or shoes
However, there are at least three awesome benefits of being a chosen as a bridesmaid. Besides the fact that you could potentially find your future husband within the groomsmen, here are some other awesome reasons why saying ‘yes,’ to being a bridesmaid is not a death sentence.
1.) Learn From The Bride’s Mistakes
It’s kind of like what you say your entire life while growing up – “I’m never going to be like my parents.” – Yeah, well you don’t want to be a bridezilla either. If you bestie is causing some serious drama and stress with her high priced wedding demands, just remember that when you down the aisle, “I’m never going to be like her.”
2.) Play Dress Up
What little girl did not go through a dress-up phase while growing up? Being a bridesmaid is as close as you’ll get to being a princess until it’s your wedding day. So, enjoy having the opportunity to get all dolled up with your hair and makeup. Plus, if you’re lucky, the bridesmaid dress will basically make you look like you just walked out of a fashion catalog.
3.) Make New Friends
As you grow up and move around – whether it be from your job or just relocating after college – your friend count might dwindle. When you get invited to a wedding and you are offered the position of being a bridesmaid, you could potentially be making some new BFF’s, which would up your friend count.
So, if you end up getting that invitation in the mail or if she asks you in person, weddings are not all drama. There are some serious benefits of saying “yes,” to the bride – plus, don’t knock it till you’ve tried it!
Don’t ever mess with a bride, whether it be her dress, reception, groom, bridesmaids, or any part of the entire wedding, just do not mess with it. The baker’s at an undisclosed bakery in the U.K. probably should have listened to that advice before they sold a woman the lopsided gray blob that was supposedly her wedding cake. The bride, Celia, provided the bakery with a photo of the design she had wanted, however, when she picked up her three-tier, black tire cake, she immediately took revenge. Now, what better way to take revenge than selling the cake on eBay?
According to one of the comments placed on the item, they described it as a “cake-shaming,” and on the description of the listing, Celia noted the cake was “used” and continued with “A few defects due to maker being unskilled. Uncut, along with large amount of awful cupcakes for free. No topper or decoration. Unusual design. Very Heavy.” This dear bride ended by letting the bidder know that there were no returns on the item. Talk about a serious wedding dilemma solved with bridal wrath.
There were actually 11 bids on the cake that began at $1.54. However, Celia removed the sale after an experienced cake maker commented on the item saying, “Sorry, but as an experienced cake maker, I just thought I would contact you. I don’t think you will be able to/really should sell this cake on eBay, not least of which for health and safety reasons. If someone actually ate it (God Forbid!!) – I would worry it might come back on you rather than the original cake maker.”
Coming from the perspective of the bride, this cake “baker” should have felt her wrath, because what this cake looked like would send anyone off their rocker. Celia later explained that she did not intend to actually sell the cake to anyone, but to prevent this shop from ever producing or selling another disaster such as her cake.
One of the most important moments in any girls life, is on her wedding day when she gets to have her dance with her dad. There is something about that moment that will forever bring tears to on-looking eyes, and especially in the moment that went viral between Rachel Wolf and her father. In September of 2011, Rachel’s father, Dr. James Wolf, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. For the past two years he has undergone extensive treatment, and is coming up on the end of his battle.
Although Rachel is not even engaged, she knows that when that day comes, she would forever regret not having that special moment with her dad. So, she decided to surprise him with a faux wedding so they could have their last dance and when the day comes, she can play that video. “It meant more to him than I ever thought it would,” Rachel explained to ABC News. “The joy that I saw in his face when he saw me was amazing.”
While the video has gone viral, Rachel has explained that she does not want to watch it until her actual wedding day. In the event that her father would not physically make it to one of the biggest moments in her life, for her, now he still can be. “I was completely taken aback,” Dr. Wolf explained. “It was a special idea to remember her father at her wedding day.” Although his interview was brief, a lot of his energy was drained from the dance, but it can be seen on his face in the video that he has never seen his daughter look so beautiful.
The custom, formal bride boutique, Bella Bridesmaid, recently hosted a fundraiser for Charity Dress Collection which is a non-profit organization that aims to provide free gowns to those who serve in the military. The event collected 75 used gowns for mother of the bride and bridesmaids, all of which were donated by generous Hartford, Connecticut residents.
This collection of donations was part of Bella Bridesmaid’s large and generous relationship with the non-profit organization, which also includes seasonal donations of bridesmaid’s gowns to keep them feeling newer and appealing. “We launched this timely program over the Independence Day holiday to honor the service men and women who protect and defend our countries freedom,” explained Madison Ross, co-owner of Bella Bridesmaid Boutique. “We are grateful to the swelling of support from local women who cleaned out their closets and stopped by our store to donate an unwanted gown to an appreciative military family.”
It is no secret that although weddings are a big life celebration, they are still very expensive, and the dresses can be one of the most difficult things to find in an affordable price range. However, with charities such as Charity Dress Collection, many brides will still be able to have the wedding they have always dreamed of with the perfect dresses. The benefit for those who are in need of bridesmaids dresses is that no dress is accepted if it does not fit company standards. Bridesmaid’s dresses can be beautiful and timeless, regardless if they are used or donated.
The reality television star, Nene Leakes from the Real Housewives of Atlanta, has been filming for her new spin-off show focusing on her second marriage to her first husband, Gregg Leakes. Ever since the show aired, Leakes has been a favorite among viewers with her up front attitude and hilarious personality. Now, Leakes will be walking down the aisle and finally getting her own television show which is sure to bring in high ratings for Bravo!
The world will be able to see Leakes’ wedding when I Dream Of Nene airs on Bravo! and she hinted on Twitter, “I learned a lot about my bridesmaids while planning my wedding and it wasn’t all good! Tune in.” As a fan of Nene Leakes, whether she is on Glee or the Real Housewives of Atlanta, she is sure to bring drama and even make you laugh out loud. Before her nuptials, Leakes tweeted who her bridesmaids would be and a majority of them are reality stars themselves.
Now, despite the issues she had with her bridesmaids, Leakes knew that the wedding would be an emotional process. In an interview with Life & Style magazine, Leakes gushed on her once ex-husband, “Both of us want this, so it will definitely work this time. I know exactly what I’m getting myself into. It was more romantic this time than the first, Gregg and I are real adults, so it was better.”
That’s good for Nene, but the bridesmaids always hold the responsibility of causing drama, and in the case of reality television, drama brings it ratings.
There is nothing worse than being the bridesmaid who puts on an act of loving to wear that dreadful, tacky bridesmaids dress that the bride swore would be the most flattering dress because it obviously would look good on every body type.
Here are some tips for the bride to make sure their bridesmaids are the perfect complement on their big day:
Consider your environment
Much like your wedding dress, you want to make sure the bridesmaids’ dresses are cohesive with your theme and venue. When going for an outdoor wedding, choose something casual that still looks put together without taking away from the scenery.
Let the spotlight be on you
Don’t be afraid to act like a little bit of a diva! Today is your day and even though you want your wedding party to feel comfortable, stay away from dresses with a lot of embellishments or details.
Any cleavage should be put away and left to the imagination. Every bridesmaid will have a different body type, it is important to consider these factors especially when choosing a strapless or low V-neck line. This is up to each individual bride, but major tattoos or piercings can go along with taking away from the bride’s attention. If the dress does not cover any tattoos that you wish to not be shown in your photos there are always options such as airbrush makeup, which is a temporary concealer that can be removed with soap and water.
Try Letting Your Bridesmaids Wear Different Style Dresses
This has become more of a trend lately where the bride allows the bridesmaids to pick out their own dresses that can either be different styles, lengths, or colors. This would be most appropriate for a more casual wedding or if you’re on a budget!
Still not comfortable going that casual? Stick to the same color scheme but with different necklines and lengths.
Mimi Weingart first contacted us at the end of May, desperately in search of Liz Fields bridesmaid dress style 237 which she had fallen in love with and wanted to wear to a wedding. We were able to locate a Liz Fields authorized retailer in her area and got the dress to her just in time for the event. However, the more I corresponded with Mimi the more I realized that she had a story worth sharing with everyone. Please enjoy this edition of “Who is wearing Liz Fields” as told by Mimi.
“Culmination to Victory”

You’re born a girl. You have girl dreams. They are good dreams not illusions as pessimists claim. Cartoonists of the world have created a billion dollar industry putting girl dreams onto paper, film and video and yet when a live and flesh girl wishes on a star this is called silly. Oh. Well. I guess that makes me a “silly” too because Cinderella is my hero. People laugh when I confess such but then I explain. Cinderella has made Faith her servant and that’s pretty powerful stuff. Think about it. She continues to believe and trust in the unseen things even when the worst is upon her. So irresistible is her faith that those unseen things can’t help but to bear fruit to her hearts deepest desires.
Don’t we all wish we could cultivate such fortitude? And while doing so, shouldn’t we dress the part? When I donned my Liz Fields dress it was the first time in my life I had worn such a bold vivacious color. After a series of personal grievances staged breathlessly back to back over a period of 8 years – a failed marriage, a child diagnosed with autism, the death of a beloved grandparent, I found solace in Hagen Daz and potato chips paying a dear price for it. My physical and spiritual health suffered with each pant size gained apexing in excess of 70 pounds. My choice of clothing, all blacks, grays and a neutral cream here and there, reflected my desire to blend in unnoticed, desperate to hide my tiredness. I had lost faith in those unseen things. I no longer wished on stars. What a un-Cindy thing to do.
Recently, my 5 year old daughter Delilah, popped in a Cinderella tape her babysitter had borrowed from the Library and a flood of memories of who and what I used to be came rushing back to me. I watched Cinderella with my beautiful daughter 3 times in a row, seeing with eyes anew and becoming renourished and recommitted with every play. I decided to go back to working my Cinderella plan exactly as I thought I should as a child when my dreams came from an unadulterated place. I continually tweaked as I exercised new muscles, slowing putting all my ducks in a row, breaking new ground while keeping older proven ground fresh. It became effortless this new staying committed to my seemingly insurmountable weight loss endeavor because spiritual well being came first. The new size 8 is side benefit as far as I’m concerned allowing me to wear the colors not the style of garments per se I’ve always desired to wear with confidence.
I’m still working my plan but I can see graduation on the horizon. I now sneak a wish on stars again. I think celebration of my metamorphoses will be a blood rose red stunner. Don’t recall if there is a corresponding Princess to such a hue but tell Liz Fields that she should most certainly make one up.

Its official my friends, spring is here! It may not feel like it where you live, but don’t worry, it will before you know it.
The first thing I think of when I hear spring is color! In September, WWD predicted the top-10 Pantone colors for the upcoming spring 2011 season. Amongst them were colors such as: Coral Rose, Beeswax, and Silver Cloud.
At the same time, our Liz Fields style #300 was featured in Us Weekly Magazine In the “Hollywood Trend Watch – Look of the week/Look for Less” section. Us Weekly felt that our social occasion dress served as the perfect alternative to that of Odette Yustman’s Mousseline gown! We were of course honored at the comparison, but also concerned, as we did not yet have that color option available. Well, now we are proud to announce that we do!
In addition to adding Tangerine to our vast selection of color options for bridesmaid and social occasion dresses, we have also added Orange, Magenta, and Charcoal, (colors that have a distinct resemblance to those predicted to be hot by WWD all those months ago). We have also added two additional print fabrics to our collection as well!
You can get swatches of any of these new colors by visiting a Liz Fields retailer.
Now, I want to know your opinion, are there any colors you wish we offered that we do not already represent? Weigh in below or send me a note on my Facebook page.
